Thinking about most of the Hart Foundation PPV match ups got me thinking about this. What are some underwhelming matches for major stars/teams or maybe matches a single or team was in that was a bit better than what they were used to.
The Hart Foundation, for as talented as Bret was and as great as they were as a team that usually was in the tag title hunt, seem like they got some pretty underwhelming PPV spots.
They were in two Wrestlemania battle royals, despite being tag champs just a few months before IV. Wrestlemania III saw the six man tag, V was against Honky and Hammer which was a long continuation of a Jimmy Hart feud and VI was the Bundy/SD Jones spot with the Bolsheviks. VII was their only title match at a Wrestlemania. Summerslam seemed to be the better event for them, with two title matches and one non title match against champions but Wrestlemania they didn't really get good matches, like they probably deserved.

The Usos and New Day have been top teams for nearly a decade but due to Vince's disdain for tag-team wrestling they never really got good Wrestlemania matches. Hopefully that will change next year. If they do Usos v Owens & Zayn that could be a great payoff to the Sami Bloodline stuff.
I remember feeling bad for CM Punk and Triple H at Summerslam 2008 when they were lumbered with JBL and Khali for their respective world title matches. A smaller PPV sure, but they were weak title contenders for a Summerslam. JBL and Khali were way past the point of being credible challengers and both title matches were completely overshadowed by Taker/Edge and Cena/Batista.
Most John Cena PPV matches since he went part-time have felt like a waste of him. He's bigger than ever but they've booked him like he's nothing special. That year he faced Corbin at Summerslam for instance was such a nothing match when they had a Cena/Nakamura dream match right there.
