It’s been 20 years since the gayest month in WWE history. We got HLA, the Billy & Chuck NON-Commitment Ceremony that pissed off GLAAD, and Rikishi in drag giving Eric Bischoff a stinkface. To paraphrase Tony Schiavone, truly the Greatest Month In The History Of Our Sport. A sure fire Gooker winner…
If Katie Vick hadn’t happened right after.

Ah yes the weird early days of the ruthless aggression era where it seemed like everyone else in the company was trying to move away from the attitude era, but Vince seemingly didn't want to let go.

I’m surprised that the GLAAD stuff didn’t get more negative press. If that happened now, oh boy….

I’m surprised that the GLAAD stuff didn’t get more negative press. If that happened now, oh boy…. It makes sense given the time, I guess. People knew how crass WWE had been for the last several years, and people didn't care much about gay rights yet. Gay marriages were still unrecognized in all 50 states.

They really got a nameplate that called them "The Lesbians."
I guess it goes to show how gay rights took a massive leap forward in mainstream consciousness in such a relatively short period of time.

In hindsight it's like he was trying to double down on the shock value because he had nothing else. As embarrassing as the attitude era can be there's probably 3 or 4 embarrassing Ruthless Aggression era angles for every Attitude era one

The ceremony that started with Billy and Chuck as heels playing a phoney gay couple and ended with them turning face for getting themselves and their show’s GM demolished by two angry Samoan monsters led by their show’s smarmy GM
