Man, if only the World League wasn't bought by the NFL, Ricky could play for Amsterdam.

He smokes pot. Who gives a f***?
Is it giving him a competitive advantage?
No.
Is it effecting anyone else but him?
No.
Is it any worse than abusing alcohol?
IMO...no.
So..who cares?

The league apparently. Incidentally I agree with you, however this deal is as much about the NFL's image moreso than Ricky's wellbeing or anything else, so it makes sense from that standpoint.

Is it effecting anyone else but him? No. So..who cares? I do. I'll be frank (can I still be Garth). I'm tired of the pot lobby asking this question. This lobby talks about alcohol and the various ways it can kill people. Then they talk about people dying from cigarettes. But when it comes to pot: "More people die from tipped over vending machines than from smoking pot." When it comes to alcohol and cigarettes, those don't kill you either. It's the car you drive whilst drunk, or the cancer you get from inhaling the smoke. How is pot immune to those scenarios? It isn't, but the lobby will have you think it is.

I heard this on ESPN a bit ago. He needs to just hang it up. I'm surprised the NFL iseven ginving him another chance in Sept. Its obvious he's not gonna quit.

Maybe he can be in All Pro Football '09.
I got no problem with him smoking, but he really has to understand that his career is on the line here. And I don't think he gets that, social anxiety disorder or not.

he's trying to get back into the No Fun League? I was under the impression that he wanted to stay in the CFL.

With all that weed smoking, he could join the professional Hacky-Sack leagues.

You've got all these thug players that are meekly slapped on the wrist and Ricky is done for smoking some weed. I know he's a bit of a headcase but where the wax are your priorities?

Well they suspended Pacman and Chris Henry on what was an ex post facto rule regarding off field behavior. If the government did the same, it would be labeled unconstitutional. The personal conduct policy is a three strikes and your out policy. The drug program is four for a year long suspension.

I don't condone drug use (although I've had my fair share of it) but it seems like the NFL's policies could use a little work. All or nothing, I say. Punish everyone equally or punish no one whatsoever. Let em' all raise hell and do steroids, wax it. You can just smell the money. All kidding aside, it's just sad I guess because Ricky is a very talented back who can't quit smoking to save his life. Don't cry for him, though, he's still filthy rich.

I don't see being suspended for a year for jackass behavior is a slap on the wrist. That's gonna be a big hit in Jones' pockets, as I don't believe he'll be paid for it (someone feel free to correct me on that). But speaking of Pac Man, seriously, who in their right mind thinks throwing 80 Grand in bills at a STRIP CLUB, because you saw it in a rap video, is a good idea?

I'm all for a personal conduct policy, don't get me wrong. I think Pacman has a case though. All he has to say is "I've been clean since you made this policy." Example: If you get your license at 16, turn 17, and the state changes the minimum driving age to 18, they can't make you hand back your license.

I think the situations a lot different than having your license being revoked because of your age. The policy was put into play almost exclusively because of Pac Man's actions. A man was crippled in the chaos that followed something that Jones caused, and I don't see how he should get off the hook for that. Hopefully, missing a year out of football will straighten his life out and get him a HOF career. But this man has said that he's rather quit football than get rid of his friends, who have been said to have had a terrible influence on Jones. It's admirable to stick by your friends, but not if they end up costing you your livelihood, and possibly, your freedom.

Pacman's thing isn't exactly a one time thing either. More a cumulative history of f'in up.
