Mostly a question for the older folk here. But back in the day did you trade tapes?
I started recording and keeping Mid South/UWF tv episodes. But back then all I had in my room was a Betamax VCR.
Skip ahead to 93 and I am reading the Observer. Seen someone was looking for "High quality Mid South footage" Contacted this person and let him know I had almost 30 episodes of mid south "But I will have to transfer them from betamax to vhs" Dude was excited. For those that don't know betamax had better sound and picture than VHS.
Word quickly got out about this teen in Mississippi with a pile of high quality Mid South footage. And I was able to trade 1 hour of mid south for whatever I wanted.
Then in 97 I moved to Southeast Texas. Got Galavision on my cable. Which at the time aired 3 hours each weekend of CMLL and 3 Hours of AAA. Started taping this. And cause of the luchadores on WCW Lots of people wanted lucha footage. So would trade tapes of that.
By 2000 I was out of tape trading. And I doubt there is much actually trading going on now.
But if you remmeber the days of mailing Jeff Lynch a 5 buck money order to get his 200 page catalog please post.

I never "traded" but I did buy some stuff from a big dealer, including a 4 tape Owen Hart set that was full of pre-WWF Stampede, Japan and Mexico matches, and a 2 tapes of Tully Blanchard in Texas before he went to Jim Crockett.

I was a tape trader, and my "in" to trade with other collectors online was always via my local video stores that had so many obscure movies that wrestlers acted in, as well as my love of keeping a vigilate eye on television for any shows (talk show or fictional narrative) where a wrestler guest starred.
To this day, the copy of the Weinerville Chaunkah Special from it's 1994 original premiere airing (featuring Kevin Nash as Diesel in a cameo) comes from my original recording that I traded on VHS in 2003.

I did some tape trading with a guy I knew from states away. My collection was mostly WrestleManias and some odd WWF PPV's that I dubbed from rental tapes. Trading with him really expanded my WCW PPV collection.
Mostly I bought lots of DVD's. I have World Championship Wrestling/Saturday Night from 1987-1993 from that, All Japan TV from 1989-1992, and several years of New Japan from the same era. Streaming basically killed all of that and now I just have big piles of DVDs in cakeboxes collecting dust.

I started in the summer of 2000, getting info on buying tapes online from sellers like John McAdam.
Then I got introduced to a tape trading forum and kept going from there and stopped trading 10 years ago.
