Picard and Crusher. They acknowledged the interest was there. Hell, they were even married (and divorced but it seemed amicable) in the alternate future of the series finale. But at the end of it, including the movies, things remained platonic. I mean, may still happen with the final season of Picard and both being there. Likelihood is another story. Given Picard's love interest from Season 2 isn't in Season 3, Picrusher stans might get their wish.

I'll bring up this one from Degrassi, because of how baffling it is to me, even 12 years later.
In the New York movie, they split up Spinner and Jane (which, y'know, makes sense, considering the seeds were planted way back at the start of the season, when she cheated on him). But then, they do a total ass-pull and end up with Spinner and EMMA getting hooking up and being married by the end of the movie. Emma and Spinner, who never had a meaningful on-screen interaction in the previous 9 seasons, mind you.
I get that this was the big sendoff for them, but contrast this with Hollywood the year before. The final major appearance of Paige, Marco, Craig and Ellie tied up so many dangling threads. Paige and Manny finally ended their on-again, off-again feud. Craig and Ellie hooked up, after teasing it throughout seasons 5 and 6. And Marco stopped being a doormat for Paige. This movie went and created a relationship from scratch with two long-standing characters, for no other reason than they were the longest running characters from the beginning of the series to still (kinda) be on the show.
I guess this is less about wanting Spinner to be with Jane, and more about why the hell did they have Spinner end up with Emma? I don't expect them to keep every fan-favorite couple together, since it's a high school drama and not every high school couple stays together. That's life. But for the movie that was supposed to bring closure to two long-running characters, I guess I'd hoped for a bit more.

But at the end of it, including the movies, things remained platonic. Here was my thought. In the alternate future Picard had developed Irumodic Syndrome. By having visited that future Picard learned that he had a strong likelihood of developing it himself. So knowing this hurt his marriage to Crusher in that future he avoided pursuing any romance with her. It would also explain why movie Picard was more of an action hero. He was living it up before the disease developed. Now that TV Picard is in a synthetic body and cured he might want to pursue Beverly again.

Andy on Modern Family, Hayley grew so much as person with Andy. Adam DeVine probably being too busy put an end to the relationship, but after his exit she ended up getting back her first boyfriend Dylan, and it's like the writers spent the last 2 seasons trying to convince us they where the star crossed lovers all along They really failed in that regard too. Watching the series again, Hayley and Dylan are less star crossed lovers and more the lesson neither can seem to learn. Keeping it with Modern Family, Alex and the firefighter she dated had good chemistry and it was nice seeing that character in a real relationship after the really icky ones she'd been in. The writers really did the kid characters dirty in the end on that show.

I never understood how Lisa just up and disappeared after they called off the engagement. They never explicitly ended the relationship.

Just finished watching Sprung on freevee {Spoiler}im quite pleased yet saddened that it ended with the two protagonists realizing they wanted different things out of the rest of their lives and went their separate ways at the end

Bobby and Kahn Jr.
I know they're 13, but Connie basically disappears from the show once she and Bobby break up and it's a damn shame.

Before anyone brings up Ted Mosby and the Mother, I'd like to point out it sorta made sense she passes away and that leads to him reminiscing over how they met. The issue is more that he ends up with Robin. That's the unforgiveable nail in the coffin for HIMYM's bad ending. Such a great show..... that ended abysmally!

That and Barney after all his development says screw it and go back to his hedonistic debauchery lifestyle And like, if I were Ted and one of my friends did that to another dear friend of mine, I would never speak to them again, let alone in the glowing terms Ted does when he talks about Barney.

I know I'm quoting an old post, but most Degrassi fans would have preferred Emma to reunite with Sean and get back with him. I personally agree with that.

Codename Kids Next Door: Nigel and Rachel, especially after Lizzie finally left him. That reveal about Lizzie has me convinced Vince Russo wrote that final season. Naruto/Boruto had a few eye-openers, particularly Ino with Sai. I was really hoping she’d end up with Choji. And Sakura going with Sasuke instead of Lee felt like a letdown.
