How do you think his WCW run would have gone had he not passed away? He seemed to be starting to pick up momentum in the midcard a little bit when he died, the last Nitro he was on he was booked pretty prominently with the Zbysko stuff and Bischoff seemed to like him decently enough.

Then probably back to ECW for a heel run (teaming with the Impact Players). Then lost in the shuffle of the Invasion. Might have been given a chance to shine in the early years of TNA, but with Russo writing I doubt it.

I honestly don't see him getting lost in the shuffle, especially considering how well liked he was. WWF had him as a trusted, reliable enhancement talent for the early 90s frequently for a reason. He's charismatic, talented in-ring and was always winning to throw his all into his performances.
He could and would have reinvented himself any number of ways.

Depends on some of his out of the ring activities some, unfortunately. I remember there being talk that part of why he was so popular was he was a supplier of drugs, and that was the reason for Larry's disdain outside of kayfabe. Of course, that also could be people making mountains out of molehills and that he was maybe just trying to not blow kayfabe by offering more than a neutral comment about his passing, and people read into it more than was intended. I don't know if Larry's ever really explained it.
In any case, if he was indeed supplying for guys, it would have eventually become a problem for him whether he OD'd or not, and I think that would have hindered his rise. I do think a TV title reign or two would probably be his ceiling.

I know he was trying to get clean for a time when he was in WCW and he relapsed hard after his mother died which is why he overdosed.
