I'm here for Roy Wood Jr and Lewis Black at least. I got to see Lewis Black do stand-up last year and he was hilarious.

Roy, Jordan and probably Dulce should be fine, and Lewis Black can do no wrong. Desi and Kosta are gonna be weird because their schtick largely depends on them being bonkers. Can they pull off the straight man role the host usually plays? Ronny I'm also not sure about simply because I think his comedy style of sarcastic insulting complaining might run out of steam after a week straight.

So they announced the next batch of guest hosts, and the correspondents are finally getting their shot behind the desk - It's gonna be really interesting to see some of these guys have to play the straight man in the comedy bits. And I'm really looking forward to seeing Lewis Black host. They should stop playin around and just give the show to Roy Wood Jr. Dude is one of the funniest guys around.

I guess the strikes got in the way, but it's wild that they've had a year to find a replacement, but haven't done it yet. I don't blame Roy one bit

Yeah, it's mind boggling they didn't just give it to Roy. He honestly just felt like the most logical choice from the people still there and could bounce off the talent still there. Hard to even think who they could put in now.

Have to assume that they really want Jordan Klepper and won't negotiate with Roy Wood Jr. until negotiations with Klepper fall through.

This whole thing is history repeating itself in referring to Saturday Night Live, when NBC insulted Lorne by not hiring of any of his recommended successors to be the new show runner when he left the show in 1980. It is not Roy did anything like a Limo For the Lamo bit.

They keep trying to make Jordan Klepper happen but it won't. He's good as a correspondent but any of his hosting gigs whether it's subbing for Trevor or getting his own show have fallen real flat IMO.
OTOH I thought Roy was great as host (and is just a great standup comedian in general). Shame the limbo means he won't be there anymore.

Can we just admit the show is dead? I haven’t watched since Stewart left and you never see anything from the show unless it’s Klemper and man on the street bit’s talking to, well you know who.

Yeah, I like Klepper as a correspondent but he works better as teh correspondent and more just letting the people he's interviewing make themselves look stupid. I think his problem as a host is his schtick comes off really similar to what Colbert did, but Klepper seems to let the mask drop more often than Colbert did. Can we just admit the show is dead? I haven’t watched since Stewart left and you never see anything from the show unless it’s Klemper and man on the street bit’s talking to, well you know who. I've seen plenty of clips of when Trevor was hosting. That said since he left not so much... the show could likely have survived another host switch... but it's been a year. John Stewart left in August 2015, Trevor was behind the desk in September. Craig Killburn left in December 1998 and Stewart took over in January of 1999. They really had no plan for this.

I mean, the clips have come across in my social media feeds or whatever, I just never watched them. I didn’t mean to imply none existed.

Haven’t watched TDS since Stewart left. I miss that show, here in Canada there was a bitchin programming block of Stewart, Colbert and Conan that I used to watch every night. Good times

I enjoyed most of the guests when they did it months ago. The fact that this far down the road they still haven't settled on a host is insane.
