I don't see Stewart going back at least not full time. He would likely see it as a step backwards.
Also Minhaj's problems wasn't really the strike it was more the New Yorker article and doing things like "using someone's picture in his act and making up stories about her that got her and her husband harassed. "

It's a shame to hear, I enjoyed Patriot Act.

At this point after a year just cancel the damn show. Cancel it and start “The Monthly Show with Jon Stewart”, a one hour show that I think Stewart would be fine with schedule wise.

I think Jon is still an executive producer on Colbert's Late Show, so he might just start making more appearances there. I can't see him going back to Comedy Central and the Daily Show. Though I could see him doing his own new show on Paramount+ because of that connection he already has.
I still think Roy Wood Jr should be the new Daily Show host, even without the current controversy surrounding Hasan Minhaj.

But that was the thing that stuck out the most from the quick looking over the New Yorker article.

I say this as someone who was only a casual watcher of the show but the best host they could've gotten to replace John Stewart was Jon Oliver. The only reason Trevor Noah got that gig was because Oliver already had his own show and i've been a lot more enthusiastic towards Last Week Tonight than when Noah led TDS.
Not going with a proper host is certainly a choice but they had seemingly everyone and their dogs guest run on it. Having a proper host gives the show an identity which i think it will lose.

Does the writing ever change on this show or have they had the same writers for a long time? Even the best host can't succeed with shit material.

I’m bout to start my own daily show and make fun of EVERYONE.
That’s the irony, it’s such fertile ground for a daily show with the air of its golden days. Just f***ing laugh at the sheer absurdity of the broad spectrum of it all
and they can’t even find a host lol

Didn’t see that one coming. If he’s only hosting once a week, kinda hope they give him extended episodes. What else do they have for that slot?

Just gave the article a big glance, and it's not just for hosting duties, he'll be exec producing/show running for the next two years until they figure out the 'next chapter'

I hope they do a bit where he constantly confuses the current correspondents with the ones from his heyday and calls Desi Lydic "Sam Bee" and Michael Kosta "Steve Carell".

So Jon Stewart is pulling a Rachel Maddow with this deal. Not trying to get political, but that is the deal she has, just works on Mondays, so I guess that is that is the deal Jon has, the elder statesmen coming back to save the day.
I don't mind this, I prefer the correspondents hosting over the outside guest hosts. So if Tuesday - Thursday is not some outsider I am cool with that.

I'm amazed Because it’s HIS show. He made it what it was. If not for him it would be forgotten like that Dennis Miller show or Chevy Chase or Joan Rivers or for Canadians, Mike Bullard. Jon Stewart is why the Daily Show is a thing.
