Beyond everything, he was an incredible wrestler even after his prime. One of the first matches I watched on NJPW World was him vs Billy Robinson, where even if it was from the early 70s still aged really well.
Though honestly the match he had against Flair in NK was the most impressive accomplishments in all of wrestling. Getting that crowd, who had not reacted to anything over the past 2 days to go absolutely insane during their match was incredible

RIP, whichever afterlife there is, it now has a queue of people waiting to be slapped before entering.

Legendary figure in wrestling and outside too, sad to see him go. Japan has this 24-hour telethon charity show yearly that's a big event and big names constantly show up to keep it going. At the most recent (I think, may have been one before that), he gets brought out on a wheelchair, looks really rough, but you can tell he is summoning everything he has to make some positive comments, I remember seeing that and thinking he has to be so damn tough. RIP. Language warning, but I'll never forget when he was so sick of a Luke Gallows vs. Sylvester Terkay match he marched to the ring and ended it. Oh my God, how have I never heard of this? If this happened in New York or Jacksonville it’d be one of the biggest stories of the year.

Is there a more famous wrestler in the Eastern hemisphere than him? Rikidozan and Giant Baba are the only names I immediately think of that are on his level. RIP I'd put him as number 2 behind Rikidozan. Incredible career, incredible character. I was explaining to family who he was and the list of things he did, from the Ali fight, the Saddam Hussein negotiations, the North Korea shows. What a life. RIP.

We all wondered what the **** was going on. Also, funny story, that same night I got lost in the building and wound up in the back. Got to briefly meet Inoki. He even posed for a picture (rather than you know, kicking me the hell out of an area I absolutely should not have been in).

LMAO at Gallows reaction as he’s leaving up the ramp. Dude is like “ah shit, I just blew it”

LMAO at Gallows reaction as he’s leaving up the ramp. Dude is like “ah shit, I just blew it” In the ensuing decade, he’s somehow parlayed this into runs in WWE, AEW, New Japan and Impact. He turned out fine. I’m not sure Sylvester Terkay ever wrestled again.

Whilst I'm not going to claim that I know much about his in ring work.
I am aware that he is a huge part of Wrestling history, up there with the likes of Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair etc.
Rest in peace.

RIP to an absolutely iconic figure in the world of professional wrestling. He was a great wrestler in the ring and hugely influential outside of it. Yes, he certainly had his flaws but he's also did a lot to grow professional wrestling in Japan and was very innovative with some of the ideas and concepts he brought to the sport. His impact will be felt for decades to come.

Wild thing is that Inoki was probably the last Japanese promoter with ties to the old NWA. I think that overall it leaves Vince, Watts, Colon, Jerry Jarrett, The Fullers & the Funks.

Didn't put two and two together earlier as saw some "Inspired by Antonio Inoki" posts on Facebook.
RIP to a legend. A term thrown around far too often.
