The announcement of Kairi vs Mercedes at Battle in The Valley lead to a big surge of tickets being sold. Just hope my budget can stretch to afford that show cos a Kairi v Mercedes match alone is enough to sell me on that show.

Sounds like it will sell out, as the place hosts 2100 and they've sold almost 1900.

I've no chance of attending the actual show itself though I'd love to since I've never been to Japan.

The amount of collaboration that NJPW, AJPW, and NOAH will engage in at times is interesting to me because it is so unlike North American wrestling for the most parts. I imagine some of it is a matter of geography, where they simply cannot spread out as much, so they all have a vested interest in not killing a town, and all three knowing that they all benefit when business is hot. It doesn't always work out, naturally, like how there was seemingly a bitter attitude in NOAH after that period where Suzuki-Gun dominated the entire company for a time and management changed hands, with the new management not wanting to collaborate with NJPW anymore for a time. I'd have to imagine lessons were learned and wounds had healed since then. Especially coming out of the pandemic that's really kicked puro's ass pretty good all around. Japanese pro wrestling, and business in general, is pretty ruthless but you rarely see things like you see WWE do to other companies in North America out of spite even if it hurts them. Or like what CMLL does in Mexico simply because they're on their own island even in their market. Not saying it never happens but, it's very rare.

Considering the news coming out of Connecticut and the uncertainty around it, it'll be fascinating to see if this means a sustained uptake in STRONG business.

No mention of Bad Dude Tito in TMDK's post match promo, wonder if he's still in the group.

Apparently according to The Observer, WWE has interest in Hikuleo, which explains the sudden Loser Leaves Japan match.

That has always been my mindset, but juniors on occasion get heavyweight title shots (Hiromu/EVIL, Devitt/Okada). Plus Ospreay defended the belt last year against Orange Cassidy, and you cannot tell me that guy is a heavyweight.

Most of them are already in the 95kg+ range, so it's something doable in under a month. Also helps explain/gives an excuse as to why they can't win, as they simply aren't used to have that much bulk and their movement just doesn't feel right during the match.
