36 is tragically young. I know it was talked about him having some health issues, but after retiring from wrestling he did a RIZIN appearance, became pretty active with a bodybuilding/fitness YouTube channel, and was a popular regular at Muscle Girls bar in Tokyo. The news so far says that he felt poorly, called an ambulance and his condition worsened at the hospital.
I thought the guy had the world in front of him as a Young Lion and a big it factor. So young, RIP.

I always thought he really stood out and had a great look. It really sucked that the head injury retired him because he seemed to have potential. Dying that young, too, is always tragic. Goddamn....

Posted in the main thread bit to reiterate, such a tragedy for anyone to die that young. He odd such old school, OTT wrestler charisma. Dude had IT. Such a shame. I was never clear why he left New Japan, was it injury based? In any case RIP to a hell of a talent.

Such a shame. Hadn't thought about him in years but I remember him always standing out in those Young Lion matches. Hadn't heard about the concussion.
RIP

That is beyond tragic on so many levels. He seemed to have been on his way to bring the next huge star.

The guy was set to have a rocket strapped to him, and with his age as a young lion, you would’ve expected to see him as a major player right now. I was hoping Kitamura would see big things when he got back from excursion. Unfortunately, it was one bad turn after another until he was gone from the company, never even making it to excursion.
All that being said, that is a tragically young age to pass. It seemed to be very sudden as well. O-Khan’s tribute was how I found out, and very few must be taking it so hard. He was already paying homage to Kitamura since his return with the mouthpiece.

He had all the skills and he was looking like he could become The Japanese Goldberg as he was doing The Spear and Jackhammer. Despite being a Young Lion, he looked like he could win against anyone on the roster.
Must be real hard for O-Khan, they were training partners and entered the Dojo and graduated at the same time.

Just from looking at pics of him I’d guess that it had something to do with a steroid/PED related heart issue. Anytime someone’s traps are that high and deltoids are that rounded it’s a huge giveaway.
Regardless. RIP. 36 is way too young to go.
