There's been many reports that both Eric Bischoff and Vince McMahon had plans to push Scott Steiner as a singles star, but because of Scott's loyalty to Rick remained in a tag team until 96/97, when Scott became Big Poppa Pump. If Meltzer-era Steiner was willing to take the jump however how do you think he would've fared? Would he have gotten Luger's push as the All-American babyface, and if so does he leave the company in 1994 as he did IRL.

I can see him getting a decent midcard run, with at least one match battling for the Intercontinental Championship.

While he would have done great in ring, I think the years as a team helped him develop the charisma to eventually work as a singles. Easy to forget that Rick was the more magnetic personality for a long time with the dog faced gremlin image until Scott really started coming into his own circa 1997.

If you really wanted to push him as a singles I think it would've been better to make him a heel. They were actually going in this direction with him in WCW in 92 towards the end of their while Rick was out with an injury tut then they left before it could go anywhere.
Even though he definitely had the skills in the ring I don't know if trying to push him in the Luger role in 93 would've worked and I think actually would've been worse. He was a noted hothead who could be difficult and he also wasn't exactly the most well spoken guy in the world. Is Scott Steiner really going to be the guy you want representing your company doing media with him stumbling over his words and potentially flying off the handle? Also while jacked he wasn't that tall at only about 6'0". That was another advantage Luger had in that being about four inches taller it gave him more of the larger then life look that character needed as the All American superhero guy. Also going with Scott as a singles means you are sacfrificing the Steiner Brothers who were a really good tag team. I thought turning Luger and dropping the Narcissist character was dumb especially with how out of nowhere it was but if you really felt you needed that character then I guess he was probably the best option as far as looking the part goes.
