West Toronto Prep is its name. And they got beat by IMG Academy, the same team that was involved in the Bishop Sycamore debacle:

UrinatingTree gonna have a field day One of the admins on the official Discord has already been going nuts with digging things up on West Toronto Prep. It's something to behold.

Their application document is a goddamn GOOGLE DOC.
Which asks for highlight videos.
Yep, this is another scam school and I swear it's a hair away from asking if you've heard of the benefits of selling Amway.

Clearly one of those underground schools.

Why do I have a feeling that at least a few of the names involved with Bishop Sycamore are going to be somehow tied to this? I don't remember the exact specifics but I know for a few of said folks, Bishop Sycamore wasn't their first rodeo with a scam school setup, it was just the first that got busted to the extent that it was.

West Toronto Prep sounds like one of those squads that would take part in the Stanley Cup Challenges from the early 1900s.

What is the benefit of doing these fake schools/teams? Are the people behind collecting tuition from the players and money from scheduling IMG?

What is the benefit of doing these fake schools/teams? Are the people behind collecting tuition from the players and money from scheduling IMG? Not quite tuition, but with Bishop Sycamore at least I believe that's more or less exactly what it was. They had a paltry amount of staff versus what you'd expect for even a high school team (let alone one that would be in the same tiers as their opponents), and they would negotiate with these big programs with something along the lines of "we'll be a tomato can for you so our guys can get experience playing a big program, as long as you pay for our travel expenses". Then the head coach would just put the team up in the bare minimum accommodations and pocket the rest. Rinse and repeat. I also say 'bare minimum accomodations' and then I read some more and it sounds like multiple hotels and bus companies came out of the woodwork afterwards to say basically the coach either paid them with bad checks or just straight up didn't pay them, so yeah.

It only NOW occurs to me that the whole time, Bishop Sycamore was taking the piss, FLAUNTING their scam status. Their initials were "BS" for God's sake.

I would venture a guess that 11 random board members could suit up and hold a team under 96 in one half!!

What is the benefit of doing these fake schools/teams? Are the people behind collecting tuition from the players and money from scheduling IMG? For many of these schools, it's about the hustle. It's making the money now in the hopes that you may convince enough people to build stuff for you so you don't have to worry about annoying things like infrastructure and transportation. The issue is, once you're caught, that's it; everyone knows what you're doing, and it's all over. It's convincing the players that you're not a hustle that is another art. But for every Bishop Sycamore we see, there's at least another 5 or 10 that we don't know about because schools inevitably run into the problem of not having enough opponents on their schedule due to location or regulation, depending on your state, and these "academies" are willing to play the role of the Washington Generals.

This is gonna sound crazy, but there are more Bishop Sycamores out there. It's when they decide to take the IMG Academy money that they inevitably get busted.

That's not fair to the Washington Generals. The Harlem Globetrotters were always cheating and even then the Generals put up a fight.

According to the Washington Generals website, they've beaten the Globetrotters three times!
