Was anyone else here a fan of Kronik? To me, they were a highlight of the final days of WCW, kind of reminded me of Demolition (well, obviously since Brian Adams was in the team), just two big power guys. Of course, the less said about that disaster against Kane and Taker the better.

As a kid I thought they were kind of cool though the whole joke of the gimmick pretty much went over my head and I kind of just took them as WCW's equivalent of the APA.

Was it supposed to be a weed smoking thing? Like the name was, but as a 20 year old stoner at the time just looking for any other references, I don't remember any.

I liked them a lot as a kid at the time. Just a cool bad ass tag team who wrecked you with power moves. They also had cool music. They were able to flirt with the main event scene a bit too and didn't look out of place at all. I remember in that awful Wargames 2000 match on Nitro they were on the face team with Booker and Sting and fit right in with them.
Never understood the marijuana references though. There was nothing about their gimmick that would make you think that they were pot heads. Two real intense jacked guys who quickly resort to violence without any provocation. That's the opposite of what pot does. Also making them APA rip offs was lame and super unoriginal. Just totally came off as "hey there's a bad ass hoss tag team on the other show getting over on the better show so let's just do the exact same gimmick with our ass kicker power tag team!".

Yeah i loved them! The APA thing was definitely lame, for a WCW 2000 tag team though they faired pretty well when you think about it.
I was so excited to see them show up in the WWF 😔

A couple of my middle school classmates were head over heels for them, but most of the boys in my class were into larger guys like Goldberg and Nash anyway. They didn’t hate Rey or the luchas, they just liked seeing dudes be tossed around.

They were definitely cribbing from the APA at times, but I mean, that's fine, it's a really basic premise.
I enjoyed them well enough, even if they were pretty awful by the time they got back to the WWE.
I will say, my favorite bit of bootlegging from them wasn't doing the "protection money we can spend to get high/drunk" gimmick, it was their REALLY blatant Static X entrance music knockoff that they used, and Stevie Richards then kept after he managed them for like a month.

I did, though the drug references went over my head. They worked well together and were great as hired muscle types, it's a shame they were tied to the Russo era of WCW, and that they had to face Taker in his 'I don't know how to wrestle' phase.

Nah. It was a lazy drug reference that had no bearing on the gimmick just so Russo could try to get something edgy on tv. Outside of their name and the name of a move or two they were just two guys ripping off the APA who were more entertaining in every conceivable way.
They did nothing for me.

Yes, me. I liked their WCW run.
Even the much misaligned match with Taker and Kane was standard big man stuff.

As a naive teen their stoner gimmick went right over my head. I misheard their finisher as "High Tide", didn't know what 420 stood for, and even their name I associated more with 'chronic', as in "We're going to be you so bad you'll be in chronic pain". Even so, I thought they were pretty cool.

I loved Kronik for all the reasons stated above, and because I was a big fan of Crush and always thought Brian Clarke was pretty underutilized. It really felt like these two guys had finally found their niche and were becoming big time players.

I was far from a fan. They ruined Crush and Adam Bomb/Wrath by having them be two completely generic big guys held together by awkwardly shoehorned weed references.

I didn't care about the weed references... I thought they were bad ass in WCW. When they went to WWE... yeah, generic tag team.

I never noticed the weed reference, just saw them as two big guys who pummel you.

They were my favorite tag team in the last year of WCW. The tag division was mostly being dominated by all the boring Natural Born Thriller guys and I just wanted to see Kronik destroy all of them.
Their match with Goldberg at Halloween Havoc though was one of the most wtf PPV main events ever. Why is a 3 minute handicap match main eventing a major show? And turning Kronik heel at the time was dumb when they were still new and getting over as faces. I think they gave up on the heel run almost immediately though and tried to switch them back face like nothing happened (which they had just done with Goldberg too).

I liked Kronik for their offense, but there was no way I could understand American lingo for smoking weed, so that was dumb. Did they ever have a story or were they just feuding at best?
