Does MJF need him? I don't think so. Did Ric Flair or any of the Horsemen need JJ Dillon? Did Curt Hennig, Nick Bockwinkel or Rick Rude need Bobby Heenan? Etc. This idea that managers are purely there to talk "for" someone always come up. The best talk with the other person and have a good dynamic. No, MJF doesn't need him, but depending their chemistry he could make everything better.

I think it just takes some attention off MJF.

It makes no sense if that how it ends it. Its bad for AEW because people love to rip on AEW for not telling stories well enough. When you have guys like Regal, Mox, and MJF all great talkers. You should have Regal explain why he did what he did.

Heel Roman doesn't need Heyman to talk for him but they still have a great dynamic. Before Full Gear I was against the idea of Regal helping MJF but now that it's happened I think it was the right call. MJF might not need him but I think they'll be an interesting pairing and I like it better than him managing Moxley or Danielson which despite their real life history I was never really a fan of.

I think it just takes some attention off MJF. I mean, I don’t see how it does? You’ve built a story where Regal and MJF have a reason to co-exist where Regal was provoking him to be better and MJF embraces the devil inside of himself so an alliance makes sense between the two. It’s not like they’re having to start something from scratch like Prince Nana and Brian Cage or anything like that. There’s more of a HHH/Flair relationship there and Flair never took attention from HHH when he was champion.

It made absolutely no sense to turn Regal heel. Regal: Jon, I already taught you everything you need to know to reach your potential, but in this young lad I saw someone who was only one step away from greatness and I knew I could be the key to unlocking that greatness. Yup, that was easy to make sense of the heel turn. Took me like 30 seconds to think up

Yes, one where people have an opposing viewpoint and politely explain their reasons for doing so!
I can actually understand a bit of trepidation because Regal is such a strong personality. But MJF is an equally strong one, they've shown good chemistry over the last few weeks and Regal has never been someone to get himself over at the expense of those he's with.
Even thus week, him as some kind of herald for MJF was great, that, a mentor, someone to help cheat in matches, he brings a lot to the dynamic so I want to see this play out.

I for one hope he does go back to WWE when his deal is up. He would totally be the Patterson to Triple H.

As much as I love Regal in AEW (his weekly interactions with Excalibur are always worth watching Dynamite alone), I think WWE needs him more than AEW does, and HHH will do whatever is necessary to get him back

So basically there's gonna be a bidding war and now Regal's probably gonna secure the biggest bag of his career years after he lost the ability to wrestle, weird how things work out.

Meltzer has now corrected to say Regal is on a 3-year deal.
Which kinda buries this as a story for the immediate future, heck of a correction. I'm sure Hunter would've loved to have Regal back.

Yep, though even before the correction, it still would have been months at best. I'm sure Hunter would have, though with HBK doing the role he's doing, he's kind of filling that niche, anyway.
