I mean, yeah we got the war games, but it’s like having the royal rumble without a royal rumble.
I mean, I don’t want rAw vs Smackdown but it’d be a good Midgard thing and reason for 10 people to be on the card all at once for just one match.

I get it this year with the first main roster War Games matches but I hope it's back next year 😔

Just no one tell the Viking Raiders.

I can't remember the last time that I actually enjoyed the traditional Survivor Series match so I didn't even notice it was gone until right now.

Survivor Series 2002 didn’t have any either because they were selling the new match concept with the Elimination Chamber. Same with this year as well for the main roster with the wargames match

Fantasy booking here but..
MVP, Omos, Lashley, Sheldon and Cedric vs 5 NXT people in a Survivor Series style match could be fun.

Not the first time they've done a Survivor Series without it.
And really traditional Survivor Series matches suck ass anyway. They come in two flavors, either people jobbing to random nothing moves in two minutes apiece or running 45 minutes long and being a plodding chore to get through and neither's fun.

People have been complaining about how stale traditional Survivor Series matches have been for years. And considering the brand divide is pretty flimsy again, *shrug*

Even as someone who always loved Survivor Series elimination matches I'm honestly not really that bothered. They've mainly all been crap the last ten years as they have no idea how to book them any more. It's either just a bunch of rushed eliminations that don't sense or someone booked ridiculously strong getting some obnoxious forced push where they eliminate like four people by themselves (Roman, Braun, Bianca). Even Hogan and Warrior at their apexes never eliminated more then two in a match. They would actually make the other people in the match matter where they would have one of the other faces get a pin or have one of the heels get protected with a DQ or a count out.
Wargames is just a better match and they also seem to have a much idea of putting it together so to me it's a win all around. Only thing is though if this is going to be a continuing trend they should just rename the PPV Wargames. There's no sense in calling it Survivor Series if there isn't going to be Survivor Series matches.

Not that bothered, never been the biggest fan of 5 on 5 and it never felt there was anything really on the line beside inter-brand pissing contest rights except for the 2014 match, and even then The f***ing Authority returned within a couple of months.
Now, we have something that feels fresh. Only thing is that Cody will miss this match, I'm sure this was something he wanted in on when he rejoined WWE.

The eliminators were great in the early days of Survivor Series as it was a way to get everything connected, get some fights with the big names, and get some guys spots that they might no otherwise have gotten. But now everyone wrestles each other on tv every week and it just wouldn’t have anywhere near the same impact. So not too bothered about no eliminators.

Survivor Series 2002 didn’t have any either because they were selling the new match concept with the Elimination Chamber. Same with this year as well for the main roster with the wargames match The six man tag team tables match between Spike, Bubba and Jeff vs Rico & 3MW operated under Survivor Series rules (that’s what they said during the run up. Of course, the fact that 3MW were allowed to come back and help Rico makes that moot but yanno?)

So it still had a Survivor Series feel despite there not being any actual Survivor Series matches. Even 1998 the only other one with no Survivor Series matches was centered around an elimination tournament. Honestly I think 1992 was the least Survivor Series looking card. Only one tag elimination match on the card and it was a half assed four on four that was under tag team elimination rules (regular tag partner gets pinned you have to go too) between the Natural Disasters and the Nasty Boys against Money Inc. and the Beverly Brothers that was like the fifth or sixth most important match on the card.

I don't think a year off from elimination matches is a bad thing, to be honest. Gives it a breather so it can feel fresh again. Plus, WarGames still follows the "teams of 5 strive to survive" concept to a degree.
And when the elimination matches are brought back, hopefully WarGames proves you don't need to do brand vs. brand to make for an engrossing 5 v. 5 match.

If/when traditional Survivor Series matches are back they should do more like Team Kingston vs. Team Orton, Team Austin vs. Team Bischoff, and uhhh Team Orton vs. Team HHH for control of Raw and none brand warfare style lmao

I won’t miss them even a little. Survivor Series has needed a facelift forever anyways, this will be great!

Sums up my feelings on the match type well. I've enjoyed some, but I feel like I've seen too few truly good elimination tags that are improved by the ruleset. Really feels like a relic from a time when shorter matches and rarer star interactions made them special.
