About a day late with this, but yes it was 25 years ago yesterday that WCW vs. nWo World Tour released, becoming the first major smash hit of the THQ/Aki series, taking the work started by WCW vs. the World to new heights, and essentially changing everyone's perception about what a wrestling game could be. As someone who was there when the game came out, its hard to put into words just how groundbreaking it was to someone far more used to the standard Acclaim WWF titles. A full blown simulation style game with big movesets, realistic flow of a match, and just crazy discoveries (the holy s*** factor of discovering you could do a Doomsday Device) was beyond anything I could have imagined. For all the talk about how various game genres excelled or struggled with the jump to 3D, wrestling games might be one of greatest dark horse success stories in that regard. Also while other games would immensely improve on what World Tour built and Revenge specifically felt far more like a WCW game, there's a certain charm to the 1997 game. Its not what either of the big two were, but an interesting, almost underground wrestling title, complete with aesthetics and incredibly underrated soundtrack to boot

Went to a thrift store last weekend, among items they had, they had older video games. They had WCW vs nWo in and out if box. The one out of box was like $30. They one in box was $80. If I had a super NES I might had picked it up
They also had those knock off game systems. Like the ones that say "system compatible for Sega, NES, Game Boy color" games. Almost picked it up if they had one SNES compatible

One of my favourite wrestling games. Absolutely brilliant. I still play it often, and I prefer it over the later games. Something about the simplicity and stripped down design of this one compared to Revenge and of course, No Mercy.

I used to love playing this game and was really into it, despite not watching much WCW at all during that time.
