So Im' talking with a buddy about Vince's reaction to Heidenreich getting pitched as an unfrozen Nazi and Vince silently walking out of the room, but it reminded me that like Vince was stunned into silence about that but put THIS on TV? I vaguely remembered seeing the vignette but I forgot how far they went with this lmao: www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-w4H5a2u4cLike what would this have even been? Obviously like Kenzo Suzuki but with more WW2 imagery but. Like what do you even do with that in storylines? Would he be Hirohito's grandson or something with the generations later line or is he just Hirohito inexplicably back from the dead and pro wrestling for some reason? In a year that had Kurt Angle get murdered via chokeslam, Angle poaching Show as revenge, Paul Bearer get murdered via concrete, Snitsky killing a baby, Booker T finding magic dirt, Cena getting stabbed in a nightclub in a hit ordered by Carlito, and more, I have to also wonder what the f*** the creative team was on in 2004.

Considering the narrator said that he returns I’m assuming the this was supposed be Emperor Hirohito back to reclaim the honor of his nation by winning wrestling matches.

I would bet good money that Hirohito's first feud would have been an absolutely hilarious mismatch like Mysterio or Eddie Guerrero

Wasn't 2004 also when they did that thing where all faces were suddenly billed from the US now because they didn't think anyone would cheer someone who wasn't?

Sure was, and it was mostly dudes from Canada that got it because of Chiraq Vore reasons that we can't get in to lmao In general the older I get the more I realize how many hilarious/insane WWE decisions from that time period were incredibly related to That.

HOLY SHIT. I have no memory of the Hirohito vignettes actually making it to TV.
Tune in to see Hirohito's revenge for the nuclear attacks on Japan right here on Spike TV, following the semi-finals of Slamball.

And a bit later. "JBL is a rich Texan who suddenly is obsessed with the border, wins the title, has a group called The Cabinet, all for heat. I wonder what that's a reflection of." I guess the only way they could ramp that up is if a guy named Dick was around and accidentally shot a guy.

I only remember seeing the vignette once. I remember reading someone like Meltzer reported that Vince was told by a Japanese wrestler or someone who had spent a lot of time in Japan that there was still had a lot of respect for Hirohito and this gimmick might lead to a lot of bad heat.
Remember Tajiris group on Smackdown was going to be called Yakuza until someone told Vince this could get them in heat with the real deal.

Between 2003 Raw and 2004 Smackdown it's pretty amazing absolutely any of us continued to watch this.
