Like someone said in the live thread, this was AEW's version of 123 Kid pinning Razor. I think AEW needed a moment like this where anything can happen, too.

MCW were lightening fast getting a full match of his up from their promotion lmfao
possible language warning haven't watched the whole thing
If anyone's curious he has multiple full matches up on MCW's Youtube, including a good one with Lio Rush

I believe myself and another person mentioned that and yes if treated correctly this could make his career. It really gave me real inspiration and renewed faith in Jericho too

Wonder what they do with him next? Jericho either has to annihilate him or invite him to join the JAS. lol

Someone like Daniel Garcia or Sammy Guevara would be the perfect first real feud for him.

This is the most shocking result for an Andretti since Michael somehow got a podium in Monza in 1993 after shitting the bed all year in his only Formula 1 season. It's nice to see Blaction Blandretti getting some work in 2022.

The crowd was as much a part of this as Jericho and Andretti. A hot, involved crowd makes all the difference. Was fantastic!

The crowd was as much a part of this as Jericho and Andretti. A hot, involved crowd makes all the difference. Was fantastic! When he kicked out of the codebreaker a flip switched and the crowd went apeshit, same time when Excalibur said the match was going to PIP, the people at home were like "Wait what? Really??" They built the drama up perfectly and planted the seed of "Wait... Jericho can't put him away... can he?", and there was still plenty of doubt, just about everyone was like "He'll just look real good in defeat and that'll be enough" And then he just pinned him clean, in the center of the ring, and everyone lost their minds It's hard to make moments like this in wrestling... but when you do? You make a moment in time, and that is exactly what they did. Everyone involved should pat themselves on the back. Including the crowd, for adding a whole other, great layer, because they bought in beautifully, and became just as big and important to the moment as the moment itself. When wrestling is good, it's so damn great.

Yep they executed everything perfectly. I wasn’t sure if they were gonna go all the way with it and was pumped when they did. Loved the crowd being so into it. Even that small touch of Jericho throwing a tantrum backstage. Just a great little story.
Action has some moves too I don’t think he will be a one hit wonder.

One of the pleasing things about AEW this year, especially after signing a lot of ex-WWE talent (and there's no issue with that), a lot of the signings this year have been people you can build the company around in the long term so Willow, RUSH, Takeshita, Bandido, along with having people like Hook and Skye Blue gaining experience and Nick Wayne not long away from becoming full time. And considering allegedly Jericho had this planned from the match Andretti had with QT Marshall, it's a real sign of intention going forward.
There's zero problem with getting experience and people like Swerve, Keith Lee and Toni Storm have been boons for the company but we seem to be far from the days of Ben Carter getting a big match and WWE snagging him immediately.

This was just perfect. Andretti, Jericho and the commentators played it all perfectly and I'm so glad the fans bought into it as well. Really surprising.

That was a star-making night for him. I like how surprising the result was, and I'm looking forward to seeing where Andretti goes next in AEW.

Go back and watch his Dark match with QT by the way. Dude looked great there. He's going to be more than just this moment when its all set and done. Meltzer actually said on Observer Radio that Jericho saw this match and decided they need to make him a star so this match has been planned for a while.

Great crowd, Jericho did very well, but I'm not sold on Andretti( as an underdog face). Maybe it was the finish, but a headscissory something of Sin Cara proportions plus a running SSP does not work at all for what I felt they were going for. Still, great atmosphere.

See, I see where you’re coming from, but I think the Flying Nothing was the best possible finish in a match like that. It really hammered home the whole “holy shit HOW did that guy win?” angle that they were going for. He’ll need a proper finisher if he’s going to be a feature player going forward, for sure, but I didn’t mind that ending in context.

Jericho in this match reminded me of HHH first fighting Cactus Jack. Jericho’s reactions were perfect in selling Andretti as a threat.
Match felt like they were riding the crowds emotion and it meshed perfectly. This is what will build AEW going forward.

This isn’t something a company should do with their top star all of the time, but the fact Jericho’s been so protected for most part in the booking is what made Andretti’s win all the more impactful. Same reason Sean Waltman was made when Razor put him over.
