Sammy/Tay stripped of the AAA Mixed Tag Titles.

Yeah, they got stripped today because for double booking and Visa issues, Sammy and Tay never defended the AAA Mixed Tag titles in AAA and the last straw was tonight, when they were booked for AAA's Night of Champions event against Lady Shani and Octagon Jr. as well as Kommander and Sexy Star II, but AEW also booked Tay for tonight's Dynamite as well.

Abismo Negro Jr. and Flammer were added to th he triple threat for the now vacant AAA Mixed Tag titles and wouldn't you know it, they are the new champions

I mean the AAA titles feel like they're not even worth two cokes and some chips these days, so I doubt it was a huge deal, but yeah the double booking raised an eyebrow

It's AAA, they just gave the Tag Belts to a team who immediately had to vacate them due to Dragon Lee signing with WWE. Their belts don't mean much.

AAA usually treats their belts like they mean next to nothing. Like Kenny Omega held their top title for a few years and only had like a handful of defenses for it lol. I think he only gave it up due to his injury and it was like, several months into that.

In general titles in Mexico mean less than they do in the US or Japan. They're for the upper mid-carders while the big names are in the Lucha Dd Apuestas Matches.

On the whole pro wrestling in Mexico is far more character driven than it is title driven. It's actually an aspect of Lucha Libre Chikara emulated pretty well honestly.

Dorian Roldan really liked the original Sexy Star for some reason. The reason she was called the Female Hulk Hogan of Mexico was because Dorian would pretty much do whatever she asked of him, book her over whoever she wanted to be booked over, and put titles on her if she asked. After the Rosemary Armbar incident, he outright said he wasn't going to discipline Star for it and it was nobody's business how he ran backstage discipline.  It took AAA's sponsors threatening to walk out en masse if something wasn't done for him to cave and fire her for it.

So of course a Sexy Star 1 fanboy is going to create a Sexy Star 2 if he gets a chance.

I mean, this is the same company that were still advertising them to be at the show even though one of them were booked for Dynamite and unless TK brought back Concorde and got Tay and Sammy from Acapulco to Colorado in a split second after their advertised match took place, it wasn't going to happen. And it's not even the first time they've done this this year, never mind the company's lifetime.

Also, like Cyno said, AAA belts are likely the most meaningless in all of pro wrestling. The Mega championship makes the WWE 24/7 belt look like the Triple Crown.

Its especially weird because AEW and ROH have a ton of belts already. There's no reason for people to need a belt from somewhere else unless they're doing an interpromotional storyline like Kenny being Impact Champion.

People say this but, like, no other promotion AEW has associated with has had these problems. It’s only with AAA belts because AAA belts are forgotten so often by AAA, it’s a meme to people who cover Mexican wrestling.

Like, it’s surprising they remembered that they had mixed tag belts to strip in the first place.

During the match, it looked like Lady Shani and Sexy Star had legit issues with each other. And out of frustration, she put Rosemary (who had nothing to do with any of this) in a armbar as the finish, but then at the end reapplied it as a shoot armbar, causing Rosemary to suffer a dislocated shoulder. She then tried to cover herself by trying to claim that the whole thing was a work, despite the evidence clearly showing otherwise.

A lot of major names (Cody Rhodes, Paige, Gail Kim and Road Dogg, to name a few) have stated that they never want to be associated with any company that would have her on their roster.

It came off like she knew she couldn't f*** with Lady Shani, who was on the start of a really big push at the time in AAA, so she instead bullied Rosemary, the partner promotion import girl just there to fill the match up. SHe'd get in less trouble for big timing some outsider who couldn't do a damn thing to fight back. Super typical bully behavior and people at the time called it for what it was.
