I don’t think Skip meant for his tweet to come across the way it did, but I can 100% see why it would be interpreted to be a classless and tone deaf approach to what happened. He should have corrected it immediately. Certainly doesn’t rise to the level that you’d fire him for it.

I really don't think Skip's tweet was worthy of the level of outrage it has caused. Six hours after the fact I’d like to say I shouldn’t have reacted like I did. No, he shouldn’t be fired but his tweet hit me wrong after I’d seen the statement by the bills and seen footage of the hit and the looks on the players faces and the aftermath. He and nobody else should have been thinking about playoffs or anything like that at the time. It wasn’t important. I tweeted at him and called him a shmuck and I got some realllllly nasty replies. Stuff like oh "shut up, you're fat." "weird chin, dude," "way to be soft, weirdo" and other fun dark side of Twitter stuff like that. I didn't need to call him a shmuck, I didn't need to be called names and our pal Skip probably didn't need to word his tweet like he did. It just came across insensitive, even if it was unintended. What we saw last night was social media processing something hyper traumatic, which is never going to be productive. All we can do now is hope Hamlin's going to make a full recovery and that people can move on. I do wonder how these guys play football in a few days after seeing what happened, though.

I think most athletes are aware that Skip is playing a character so he's able to get away with a lot of the things he says/does, and unfortunately, he's someone who for whatever reason has built up enough equity in sports media to continue his shtick and be rewarded for it. He doesn't turn the character off, and some times it leads to situations like this. With the way First Take/Undisputed is structured, you really have to assume everything is a work for clicks unless proven otherwise, but between this and him disrespecting Shannon Sharpe's playing career recently, I wonder if that equity he's built up is slowly going to start fading. The fact that he's survived this long is almost a miracle.

I've been thinking for a while that Skip is falling into the same trap as some pro wrestlers do. They mix their kayfabe character into reality often without realizing it.

Here is my solution for how to get these games in. No Superbowl bye week, cancel the Pro Bowl, no big lose there, play all the games as schedule for week 18, and add a week 19 which is just the Bills and Bangels making up or concluding the game (if you want to start over at 0-0 or resume from when the game was stopped, up to them) the post season is moved down a week, and just get rid of the bye week. Means no Pro Bowl

Means no Pro Bowl The Pro Bowl makes money and has its own TV contracts, but I guess you could just switch it to the Saturday or immediately before the Championship games. Might even get more viewers that way. The NFL have said it isn't being resumed this week, so the only options are to settle it as a tie or push the schedule back like you've said. It feels impossible to me that they'd do the latter, but who knows.

Yep no game this week...
So the option is to either call it a no contest or play it week 19..if you play it 19 you basically eliminate the home field bye because everyone gets a bye but Cincy/Buffalo.
Also how shaken is Buffalo? If there's no Hamlin information are they gonna refuse to play NE also?

Well it’s the universe correcting for that f***ing moron skip bayless. I don’t like to say this and don’t but he should be fired for that tweet? And I hope this put a chill on the hot take merchants who say things for shock value. Anyway I logged into gamepass early to see the highlights of the game and it wasn’t there and I was confused but checked Twitter and it soon became clear why the game wasn’t there and why it shouldn’t be there. We all love this game but it’s times like last night where we are reminded there are more important things in life than football. I really don't think Skip's tweet was worthy of the level of outrage it has caused. I mean, I lived through the "should Over the Edge have been cancelled?" debates...so it's like it's another day online. But yeah.

It feels impossible to me that they'd do the latter, but who knows. And there could be programming conflicts coming out of this if they do the latter, For example: Fox has the Super Bowl this season but Fox has the 1st part of NASCAR Cup coverage including NASCAR's signature race: The Daytona 500. If the Super Bowl gets pushed back to the same week as Daytona. Either Daytona gets moved to Saturday night (Staying on FOX) or FOX trades Daytona to NBC in exchange for either the Nashville and July 9th Atlanta races (Meaning NBC's NASCAR slate for 2023 could begin with the Chicago street race) or the Indi Road Course race or the August regular season finale at Daytona before the playoffs. The clash at the LA Coliseum could either be moved to FS1 or NBC (FOX gets Nashville race as a make good). If I were the NFL, I'd delay the Pro Bowl til the week after the Super Bowl (Just like the old days)

Hopefully this incident rallies people to get trained in CPR. Damar may be potentially saved due to the speed of CPR. While CPR isn't 100% proven to save. Doing it rather than being a bystander definitely improves a person's chances to live.

Everything he posts will be seen in the worst possible light because he threw out any right to benefit of the doubt years ago. It's a Boy Who Cried Wolf situation, only for a professional asshole instead of a liar.

It's so important to learn

The only silver lining to this is that thankfully it happened during a football game where they had legit paramedics there and could give him good treatment quickly. He may still not make it, but they gave him a chance.
If it had happened at home or something odds are that we’d be having a different conversation. So yes, learn CPR, and it’s not enough to just learn it because in high stress situations if you haven’t practiced/reviewed it a lot you may panic. So get certified and review it periodically.
All the medical that treated him on the field deserves some kudos because they weren’t going to give up on Damar no matter what.

Hamlin's charity is nearing 5 Million on GoFundMe and will likely get there
There has been a little update to the bio saying it is the ONLY Charity being run by the Hamlin Family and it will all go to supporting his community, especially children related drives like the Daycare.

I know a lot of people on the internet and sports media are playing armchair cardiologist right now, but I've heard a few actual doctors make a really good point about what happened. Yes, the cardiac arrest might've been because of this commotio cortis thing. But no one except the doctors and nurses treating him know what he's really going through. Maybe he had some underlying heart condition that went undiagnosed or unnoticed until this tragedy. I'm pretty sure Dr. Jennifer Ashton, ABC's chief medical correspondent, called the process differential diagnosis.

Skip questioned Dak Prescott’s leadership ability because he said he was depressed after his brother committed suicide, and has acted a total ass lately, I think it’s fair to not give him the benefit of the doubt.

Doing it rather than being a bystander definitely improves a person's chances to live. It should, I learned CPR and dragged my friends daughter from the bottom of a pool and it saved her life. It was horrifying and would have been much worse had we just stood around waiting for first responders to come. It’s not complicated and can be completed on a few classes,

Man I wish we had a positive update. I'm a diehard Giants fan, but would love if this all ended with Damar's teamates handing him the Lombardi trophy next month.
