funny thing is he had babyface runs in Georgia and AWA and even in World class as big daddy bundy I was going to post about Big Daddy Bundy from Nome, Alaska in World Class. I believe he turned heel by turning on Fritz, his trainer.

He was one of the more outgoing guys at the autograph shows, he knew how to make the fans happy. Unless a fan knows how to really be engaging (and many are star struck and just want the auto/photo)-not a lot of guys are overly friendly. Bundy was overly friends, though very business like if need be. I think that could have translated well perhaps in a commentator role, as others have mentioned, in the mid to late 90s. Only thing I think might hinder him would be perhaps being outdated. I can see him not really changing with the times and making references to things popular in the 70s and 80s like Heenan did with stuff from the 60s and 70s. I can also see him being a backstage interviewer.

At the end of his match, he was the biggest face at Wrestlemania III.

It's funny for me reading this and seeing everyone fantasy book exactly what I have been fantasy booking for years.....except I've had Studd as the one turning babyface.
By 1987 John Studd would have been feuding on and off with Andre for almost a decade. He probably wouldn't have been too happy about Heenan going behind his back to bring him into the family. Studd could claim Heenan not focusing enough time on him and Bundy as the reason they were having problems in late 86.
They confront Heenan. Heenan pisses off Studd. Studd grabs him. Bundy attacks Studd from behind. Studd plays reluctant babyface for a while. He gets saved from a triple team at some point and Hogan saves him but he won't shake Hogan's hand.
Studd vs Bundy happens at WM3. Studd winds up on Hogan's Survivor Series team instead of Patera.

This is exactly what it seems they were building to, IMO, when Studd and Bundy started having all their arguments in late '86. If Studd hadn't left, I think it would have played out exactly like this, with Bundy on the losing end at WrestleMania. The fact that Studd came back as a babyface in late '88 and immediately picked up the same thread with Heenan (even with Bundy gone) seems to prove they planned to turn him in '86. I would like to call out, as an aside, that I was literally thinking about this topic last night while watching a Boston Garden house show and almost came here to ask for people's opinions, and now there's a whole discussion on it. Get out of my brain, FAN.

No relation. He just stole Peg’s mom's nickname. Fixed. Naw, Al states in the second episode Bundy was in that it was Peg’s.

Get out of my brain, FAN. I filled in the blanks with the issues of the Observer that I was missing from around this time. Apparently there was some belief that Studd was coming back in early 87. As an aside, I also found out that Adrian Adonis was apparently fired in '86 after the angle where Piper hit him with the crutch. Wonder what Piper had done at Mania if that had stuck.

He could have pulled it off. He was a very underrated promo. Like one of my surprises of watching old wrestling is seeing Bundy talk and he’s actually a damn good promo.

He was Peggy’s Uncle Irwin in like season 2 lol What makes that even funnier is the fact that Katey Sagal is a year older then Bundy. On a side note, I used to have the first installment of the NBC special TV’s Funniest Families that aired in 1994. They said that the last name Bundy was inspired by King King Bundy. They then superimposed Al’s face over King Kong Bundt’s and jokingly said: “There is a resemblance.”

They had some time to build something. My instinct is a Piper-Orton blowoff at WM3 to send Piper off into the sunset, but apparently Piper not drawing with Orton and Muraco at house shows after the Flower Shop beatdown is what caused them to bring Adonis back. I could see Piper feuding with Race/Heenan, and JYD gets a different feud for Mania.

You can turn any tenured monster heel face by putting them against a newer more heelish monster

A friend of mine who wrestled in the indies once had to pick up Bundy and Jim Duggan from the airport. Then drove them around looking for fast food. He said Bundy kept him in laughing the entire time, along with Hacksaw. That's a reality show right there.
Driving with Hacksaw and Bundy looking for fast Food weekly haha!

He could have been fun on commentary and go from there-maybe making fun of too many heels-they teased a feud with him and Kamala before he left-just crossing paths, but still.
