The Davey Richards superplex spot followed by a suplex to the outside This was stupid at the time but now it's pretty common. Seth Rollins does a superplex into a falcon arrow for example. And Theory took the superplex and reversed the falcon arrow into a neckbreaker. Nobody bat an eyelid. Still stupid but somewhat accepted now.

Randy Savage waking Hogan up with the flying elbow drop. I have grown to tolerate that one as the years have gone by. Savage lost like a dozen matches in 1989-90 after Hogan hulked up following the elbow drop. It’s kinda funny that he’d be like “Hey - I got an idea!! It’s worked every other time I’ve tried it”. Had they explained it better, it might have been fine.

I think the Savage / Hogan thing was just before its time. If someone nowadays had the same historical dynamic with a particular move routinely being no-sold I think it'd be something people would love.

Hulking up is stupid no-selling in it's own right. Although not so much from Hogan, more the way his oponents respond in the same stupid way everytime. Maybe don't go for a punch?

I remember that match. I saved that one on my DVR for months. Sadly that wasn't an isolated incident for Page. He would go on to make a career out of doing and saying stupid shit. Cool butterfly jeans though. Do you have any examples? I've never heard of Page rubbing anyone the wrong way besides Punk, who probably would get offended by Mr. Rogers. I was done with Page once he admitted that he doesn't take advice from wrestling veterans. That's the equivalent of a current NBA star saying he can't learn anything from Michael Jordan because he's already in the NBA. Then there was the unscripted comment he made to Punk on live TV about "Bret Hart masturbation matches" or whatever his dumbass comment was. Maybe if Page shut his mouth and actually listened to those veterans trying to teach him something, someone outside of the AEW diehard bubble would actually know who he is. Like they know the names of the veterans he ignores.

What he said was that he hears veterans advice, but by and large, prefers to learn from his own trial and error. Not that he "doesn't take advice" as a flat policy. His approach is completely valid.

The dudes straight up ran over 5 feet and tumbled over the top rope (with the guy who just took the move initiating it) out of nowhere. I hate those other spots too but at least there's something resembling logic

And he said it as a self-critique! People are getting worked up over a misinterpretation of an out-of-context quote simply because they idolize Punk

So was the Bret Hart quote he made on TV a misquote? I know it wasn't verbatim, but that was the gist. Not sure why patterning yourself after one of the greatest in ring performers of all time is a negative thing. For the record I never disliked Page until recently. He was cool as a member of the Bullet Club. But his wack ass remorseful drunk cowboy routine that takes grown ass men for ice cream on his lawn mower is wack as f***.

I hate those other spots too but at least there's something resembling logic there was logic to the Davey/Eddie spot. it was a direct repeat of a combo Davey did to Eddie in their first match (Davey gave Eddie a Superlex, then picked him back up for a brainbuster dropped into a cross armbreaker), only Eddie studied that match and countered the brainbuster/cross armbreaker by suplexing Davey over the top rope when Davey picked him up.

Also, right after that, it probably still was better than other no-sells listed here, but may have hurt business for their match: Hogan popping right up after Vader powerbombed him. Yet no one ever mentions during the match, Vader takes the leg drop and then proceeds power out of a pin at a one count.

Thank you! I doubt Kane has ever hit a sit down piledriver after that.

Johnny Impact vs Austin Aries from Bound for Glory 2018. Impact hits the Starship Pain (or whatever it's called), gets the three-count, and Aries immediately rolls out of the ring, yells at the commentators and walks to the back, not even attempting to sell. That Lio Rush clip is incredibly stupid but there's at least a kayfabe explanation for what allowed it to be possible. The Aries/Impact thing was either a godawful worked shoot, or Example #658 of Aries being an egomaniacal pissbaby. Didn't that basically end Aries' Impact run for good? If so, the latter.

I get what they were going for, but it was really foolish booking.

Had they explained it better, it might have been fine. If that was INDEED the idea it would be absolutely, it would be WAY too meta for even non-casuals to get without the explanation. Still would be stupid since it would make the move a complete joke.
