He was definitely a background player last night. The only times he stood out to me is when I was noticing how small he looked compared to guys like Sheamus and Drew. Not that I’m ragging on his size but the contrast was very noticeable. No kidding. The spot for the Miz elimination where Sheamus came up behind Gargano and he’s like two heads taller

It’s crazy because between 2017-2019 I was really into Gargano as a face (weird heel turn during that time aside) and once the Way got turned into goofy heels I was on board with it, but his main roster run hasn’t clicked like I thought it was. I must say I’m not sure what the solution is, but being stuck in that Miz/Lumis angle for as long as he was wouldn’t have helped. It’s emblematic of the main problem of the main roster compared to NXT. NXT, talents were getting cycled out all the time, so new people would get elevated and have fresh opponents regularly. Can’t happen on the main roster. All those people cycled out? That’s where they end up too, and most of them are still there waiting for their own turns at the big push. The only solutions are either cycling out talents off of TV for a few months every year, or letting people go after x amount of years on the roster, and I know for a fact that most of you wouldn’t cop that. Honestly, best place for him would be Ciampa returning from injury and reforming DIY. Instant top-level tag team in the division.

Given his current status and spot I thought it was a pretty good showing. Guys in the past at his level have just been quickly dumped, the guy got a solid 30 mins in the ring and hung in there through the "big men" phase of the match.

Irrelevant as his whole run since he came back. It's pretty clear they're waiting for Ciampa to reform DIY Not sure on the timeline of Tomato Chips' injury, but if he's back, DIY vs Usos at Mania?

I wish they’d kept him around long enough for a spot with Omos.

Him and Santos both got nice run while also not really doing anything of note, to the point they got eliminated I couldn’t remember how they were both eliminated about ten minutes later and had to ask in the live thread.
I enjoyed him in The Way but once the bell rings there’s nothing that he does that twenty other guys can’t do better.
Same with Champa.

If the booking doesn't protect or focus on him, he has no presence. I watched the Rumble with some non-fans and they had the same reaction to him as I: "Nice DDT, bland man." It's unfortunate because he's such a great underdog tag team wrestler. At least that's the role I enjoyed him in.

I do have to wonder a bit if Johnny's overness in NXT came more from the story with Ciampa than the crowd taking to him. Like I know people here loved The Way, but now stopping to thin about it, Johnny at his most over always had himself connected to Ciampa who even while out injured made himself quite the villain in Gargano's story. The brief moments they were not connected though? Felt like Johnny lost a lot of momentum even in NXT.

It made Drew look like he was 7’2”. Drew is a deceptively massive human being. There were pictures of him at Sheamus’ wedding just towering over the regular guests. He’s one of those guys that looks big around most other wrestlers but not like Omos big so you take it for granted just how gigantic he is around normal folks.

Johnny got a few good spots in, but overall didn't do much from what I remember...
He was protected a little I guess as he wasn't flat out clowned like a few people... but he wasn't really given much emphasis either.
Sorta like his comeback in general he said for like the 20th time >_>

Drew is literally one of the tallest guys on the roster. I always forget that because he's also got a slim build... but yeah looking "small" next to Drew is kinda meaningless when Drew is like 6'8"

He was the only guy under 6’3 that survived Lesnar I’m pretty sure. That’s something I suppose.

I think he's the perfect example of what happens when they can't get guys off NXT onto the main roster in time. He stuck around NXT, got stale on NXT, came back to WWE and while people were buzzing about him, I feel like it was more about the larger AEW vs. WWE rivalry and who was going to get the free agent.
He's funny, they've been doing some character stuff, but I think he's somebody that needs to be in a tag team on the main roster to survive.

They clearly like him, the crowd want to cheer him but hes been back for a cup of coffee, and had an injury and a Miz storyline in that time period. He'll get there in time.

Obviously hs's always been very tall but he's also very muscular and thick on top of it. The Rumble had a lot of big guys in it like Sheamus, Lesnar, Gunther, Lashley, and Kross and to me Drew seemed bigger then all of them in that he was just as jacked while also being taller then all of them. Omos and Strowman were the only two guys in that made him look not that big.

Clearly im in the minority, but I have 0 interest in DIY reuniting.
I've seen all there is to see from that partnership.
Rehashing their old tag team, then their old feud is no way to move forward.
