This is the first I have heard of this, but I didn't have much respect for Konnan anyway
These days, as long as he isn't a racist, a sex offender or profiting off spreading damaging misinformation, I couldn't give a shit if he is a carny

Getting mad at wrestlers for being carnies is like getting mad at dogs for barking.

Nobody could have made the gimmick work, the full costume weighed a tonne, needed 5-10 minutes and stagehands to get the space suit off every time he hit the ring and the whole thing weighed a tonne because it was packed with D Cell batteries for all the heavy early 90s electronics. Konnan was expected to transport the thing with him from town to town as well, making the thing a logistical nightmare given how much they were on the road, and had to foot the bill themselves. There's a reason the only part of the Max Moon attire Paul Diamond really used was the ring gear, mask and the gauntlets. The whole thing was poorly thought out and would have resulted in anyone playing it quitting, even in the reduced form that made TV, Paul Diamond didn't stick with it all that long. Well the reason Paul Diamond didn't stick with it that long had nothing to do with the gimmick and more the fact that he was banging Tatanka's wife. He got big heat with the locker room and Vince over it and it led to him being released. Don't get me wrong in that having an affair with another man's wife is not cool at all but Vince and the other wrestlers blackballing him over it seems super hypocritical. Holy shit, what?! How have I never heard this story? This is really the reason we never heard from Paul Diamond ever again?

Strictly speaking Paul Diamond didn’t get blackballed, but he didn’t get his contract renewed after it came out, or at least that’s the way he tells it. Bizarrely he ended up having a dark match in the WWF after it, against Duke Droese. In 1998. Wrestling is weird.

I guess him and the woman are still together to this day. It's still weird though how unapologetic and casual I recall him describing it. More or less I remember him just being like "yeah I started banging Tatanka's wife and got found out. All the boys were mad at me, Vince wasn't cool with it, and I think Tatanka wanted to kill me". Like no s**t dude. I also remember him talking about how it killed his push as Max Moon dead. I guess originally they were planning on giving him a showcase win at the 93 Royal Rumble over Terry Taylor as they were having good matches on the house shows but then instead was put in the Rumble match and thrown out in short order. They also had to book the match in that Tatanka and Diamond were never in the ring at the same time. As a result Diamond entered early and was thrown out quick and was long gone by the time Tatanka entered.

didn't he recently book a show with Alberto del Rio and Marty Schurll? I could have swore I saw that Marty signed with AAA a couple months ago. I Googled "Marty Scurll AAA" and found a poster from a show this past November with Konnan at the top. Also featured on the poster were Marty Scurll, Flip Gordon, Enzo, Sexy Star and Moose. Most people forget Moose was also arrested for domestic violence at one time. Which is the reason he didn't get signed by WWE several years ago. K-Dawg will work with people even Court Bauer would look sideways at.

Murder, rape, racism, pedos, all good. Bang one of the boys wives or cheat on one of the boys, nobody will ever hear from you again. Supposedly that's the same thing that happened with Brian Lee right? He banged Undertaker's wife and now he's so far off the grid even Conrad Thompson couldn't find him when he tried to book him for a Starrcast. Kelly Klein too.

Also, I see no issue with Sean Oliver turning his losing money into a running gag. Ultimately, he's making an entertaining product and wrestling fans love repetition almost as much as they love repetition. Konnan got money for nothing and Sean turned it from a complete net loss into an investment in a catchphrase.

Yeah the same thing happened with Lee too. Undertaker obviously having a lot of stroke made it even worse for him in his case. It was obvious watching how he was presented his last few months in the company that he had a lot of heat for something as he was just constantly getting destroyed and jobbed out before getting released while his less talented stablemates and cousins the Harris Brothers were kept around another year. Another unforgiveable sin in pro wrestling seems to be locker room theft. PN News was basically exiled from wrestling in the states after being accused of it in WCW and ended up having to move to Europe. On top of it I believe it end up not even being him and was actually one of the referees.

Brian Lee was a close friend of Undertaker, so that'd make it even worse. I am not saying that it is or isn't true, no idea, though I do remember part of why Lee and Undertaker had heat was him getting busted for something, DUI or something like that, and trying to get out of it by leveraging that he was the Undertaker, only for it to get back to the actual Undertaker, who wasn't exactly pleased that a guy he'd done multiple favors for was repaying him in this fashion.

The last time I remember seeing or even hearing about Diamond was when he lost to Shawn on the first episode of Raw. In what I will say is by no means a classic, but a really solid, underrated match. Especially for the time. What has he done since? FWIW I liked Diamond in the ring, and since I was 11 at the time I thought the Max Moon gimmick was great. With the jetpack and the flames shooting out. He was over with me! Lol Yo I created that entire post and then went back and reread your original post. What the hell were Paul Diamond and Duke Drose doing in a WWF ring in 1998???!!! Wrestling is REALLY weird. 😂

Wrestling is REALLY weird. 😂 You had a few surprising people doing dark matches then, PCO, Bill Irwin and Tony Anthony popped up in dark matches around the same period. Paul Diamond actually had an OK career after leaving the WWF, he did the Max Moon gimmick in Japan and Badd Company reformed and popped up WCW B-shows and in pre-Extreme ECW, and he had singles runs in the USWA and ECW later on.
Really, very few wrestlers are actually blackballed completely, there's often someone willing to overlook things and book them. Nailz, for example, is talked about as someone who was blackballed but wasn't really, he got quite a few high profile bookings after his WWF run, it was more that he was rubbish.
