Its amazing having the visual of the singer belting it out and putting so much soul into Simply Ravishing.

I remember an ad in WWF magazine for Slam Jam; and then wcw released their own Slam Jam album first. Maybe they got to the copyright first idk

There's Jesse Ventura sleeping backstage at the end of the video right before Eric fired him.

Hey, that’s my upload! Thanks for sharing it around!
Believe it or not, I found that tape, completely unlabeled, at a salvation army thrift store for a quarter. When I hit play, you would have thought I’d won the lottery.
I’ve got some more rare stuff on there, especially if Japanese Super Mario Bros. stuff is your thing.

Thanks. Maybe it was an ad that was only in the UK?

In all my years I never heard of this album. I can't find it on Discogs (a very complete music database that has pretty much every obscurity you can imagine). Was this available commercially? "Slam Jam" to my mind is synonymous with WWF, it was a big hit here in the UK reaching #4 in the singles chart.

Ads for it appeared during Clash of the Champions XXI—my first WCW show!—and I remember my parents ordering the cassette for me.

But yes, WCW Slam Jam Vol 1 was a very real album they released in 1992 and heavily promoted on their programming from 1992-1993. It was released on cassette and CD. Around 2013 the music on it was at the center of a lawsuit between the songwriters/performers (namely Jimmy Papa) and the WWE for use of their music on DVD, video games and on-demand releases and their original session agreements with WCW were only for TV broadcast/VHS home video and cassette/CD - www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/wwe-cant-escape-copyright-lawsuit-524635/It was settled in 2014-2015.

It was sold at shows and you could order it through various magazines. It is on my website (which is old now) www.wrestlingmedia.ws/ (cheap plug I know). There are plans to re-release this on vinyl and another re-mastered CD release. I am waiting to hear more about it from Papa.

The BMI website lists some of the SJ tracks as registered to Stephanie Music, a WWE music label. Plus, after the lawsuit between Papa and WWE was settled, WWE temporarily took down lots of WCW PPVs from WWE Network so they could remove the generic tracks that were dubbed over the Slam Jam tracks. That was back in 2014.

That was back in 2014. WWE should have removed all of those, they are still all owned and registered by Jimmy Papa. WWE have done this a few times and had to come to a deal with Harry Slash about his ECW themes. The deal is that they must dub anything uploaded after 2014, which they have not kept to.

WWE bought Harry Slash's ECW music in 2005 shortly before the first One Night Stand PPV. As far as Papa goes, like I said, his music was replaced on WWE Network at first when it launched in February 2014, but by the end of the year after the lawsuit was settled, WWE removed the generic music. Papa's music is all over WCW shows on WWE Network and Peacock.
