Playing the Mortal Kombat 10 storyline, won't fully spoil for those that want to enjoy the 9/10/11 Trilogy, but during the Sub Zero chapter SOMEONE SPECIFICALLY was to blame for shit going downhill and I see everyone getting the blame or talk afterwards BUT THEM

Janet Jackson's infamous 'wardrobe malfunction' caused her a lot of grief and blowback... but Justin Timberlake walks away with barely anyone blinking in his direction.

In "The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show", everyone (friends and family at least) seems to blame Homer for the fact the Poochie sucks, rather than the writers of the show. But Homer uncharacteristically did a very fine job voicing Poochie. He did everything that was asked of him, and did it well.

He also drug Britney Spears through the mud. He got some flack but “apologized” in an Instagram post and everybody just kind of looked away again.

Wreck it Ralph
Ralph is treated like shit for literally playing the roll assigned to him and when he inevitably leaves he's treated as the one at fault rather than the asshole townspeople.

The infamous "It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown," where Charlie Brown gets blamed by everyone for losing the big game, despite Lucy being the one who kept pulling the football away from him IN AN ACTUAL FOOTBALL GAME!!!

This is more a general thing, but when characters perform some awful act or atrocity when under mind control, and then the narrative just seems to treat it like it's something they are personally responsible for. If someone doesn't know the circumstances, or the character is blaming themselves, that's one thing, but otherwise, it's literally not their fault by any rational metric.
Resentment can still be understandable if it's acknowledged as not rational, but it's when shows just kind of seem to go out of their way to not acknowledge it that it bugs me. It'd be like if Bruce Wayne, instead of taking revenge on crime itself, instead of choosing to focus exclusively on Joe Chill, instead of even having it focused on the particular firearm that his parents were slain with, decided to fixate on the specific bullets that were in his parents. It's just stupid.

Janet Jackson's infamous 'wardrobe malfunction' caused her a lot of grief and blowback... but Justin Timberlake walks away with barely anyone blinking in his direction. This, other reasons, is why I'm so critical of our sex negative society: the onus and blame for "impurity" is almost always on the women.

Personally I put more blame on the press for somehow thinking it was acceptable to ask Britney things like if she was still a virgin. They knew JT and her were an item, questions were inevitably going to come his way that he didn't know how to answer politely, and unfortunately there were probably people running him who should have known better, but encouraged him to lean into the lothario image. He was what, 21, 22 at the time? Still young enough I'm willing to cut someone some slack.

I was reminded of this one in the midst of the controversy around Beyoncé getting snubbed at the Grammys; Macklemore beating Kendrick, Drake, Jay Z, and Kanye basically ended his career. Now, I was never the biggest fan of Macklemore, but he wasn't the one who voted his album Best Rap Album.

Yoko Ono did not break up the Beatles. John, Paul, George, and Ringo broke up the Beatles. And Brian Epstein's death had a huge impact on the Beatles eventually splitting. Yoko probably kept them together longer with how drugged out John was, she got John to recording sessions.

But it was easier to blame a fan than themselves. All credit to Mark Prior who immediately said it wasn't Bartman's fault, and was the fault of the Cubs. And he was the pitcher when that happened.

But it was easier to blame a fan than themselves. I still feel if Alou hadn't acted like a f'ing 6 year old Little Leaguer after the play, no one would know who Bartman is right now. Oh... and if Alex Gonzalez had TURNED THE F'ING DOUBLE PLAY.... Even after 2016, I'm still annoyed by that game and not because of Steve Bartman.
