I guess this is one of those litmus tests that if we're in a new boom period, mainstream recognition, or whatever, but like, I don't know why that should matter. Lots of stuff is only popular in its certain niches of the media landscape outside of like, the most A-list of A-list movies (and even then). Wrestling being in a large, thriving niche is perfectly fine.

Thanks to Succession, he probably isn't even the first person named Roman people think of.

Ones that come to mind are Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Andre the Giant, Randy Savage, Steve Austin, The Rock and John Cena. And I suppose Batista, Undertaker, Chris Jericho and Dusty Rhodes are a tier below. Maybe even Bobby Heenan is up there. No clue about Bret Hart, Sting, Lex Luger or Shawn Michaels.

Nope. The last one was Cena and even then, I’d attribute meme culture and his acting success to that even more than his longevity in WWE. Additionally, ads and award shows. That's the main thing. Roman is like how Flair was in the '80s: certainly a star, but not a crossover star because it isn't like Roman does much acting. He's not on SNL, he's not in commercials or kids' movies, he's not putting himself out there like that. Flair, similarly, had very little pop culture cache compared to Hogan because he didn't get involved in that sort of stuff, either, at that time. That's part of why Flair was actually excited to work with Hogan extensively in WCW. That got him stuff like the Baywatch appearance, etc. It was a taste of a kind of crossover profile that had eluded him.

Cena is the closest thing to a household name that wrestling has had since the Rock.
I'd go so far as to say we're 30+ years removed from the era of wrestlers being true household names like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Andre the Giant, Sgt. Slaughter, Macho Man, etc.

No one in wrestling over the last 10 years is a household name He is as household a name a pro wrestler could be in this day and age.... which isn't saying a lot, unfortunately.

Wrestlers, however popular or pushed they are within the business, can only be household names if wrestling itself is a household name.

Not at all. Not a slight on him, wrestling hasn't been popular in a long time.
I'd put Miz and the Bellas over anyone cuz of the reality shows honestly.

WWE should make Roman Noodles. Then he'll be a household name.

Honestly Flairs influence wouldn't be felt till after his prime when multiple mainstream rappers talked about how Flair influenced them and their style

Riverdale was a popular show but I couldn't tell you anything about it. there are influencers who have millions of followers but might as well be complete nobodies to anyone outside their niche. just how it is.

he's probably as household as anyone in current wrestling can be.
I mean he's been on late night tv shows and commercials. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't start doing movies in the next year or so.
