Would OVW count? Still running shows to this day. Granted i wasn't too familiar with them during their developemental days. Did they travel around? They’ve always been ALMOST exclusive to Louisville. They did a joint show in Wisconsin last year. Beyond that they have done a few shows in Ohio over the years though they haven’t been there for some time. Aside from Louisville the only venues they go with any frequency are towns/cities in Kentucky and Indiana.

OVW is real close to being a territory.
And yea there is some indies that run like the old territories.
For example AWA,the Alabama Wrestlign Alliance. They got a circuit of 3 towns. Theodore AL,Pascagoula MS and Ocean Springs MS.
Or Bayou Indie Wrestling. They got 4 towns they run,Brookhaven MS,Vicksburg MS,West Monroe LA and Fountain Hill AR.
The thing with all the indies is they don't run weekly. Most of them run 12 to 16 shows a year. BIW for example took all of December off last year. And isn't running any shows in May this year. AWA runs once a month.

You still hear stories now and then of promoters getting into territorial pissing contests after all. It’s just that since the 1980s the WWF has turned into this national/global vampire that sucks the life out of all these smaller companies. So like you said instead of running weekly they run monthly (if that in some cases). Some places run more frequently like Beyond and Limitless up near me. But even then it’s no comparison. Places like those ones tend to have big live events. Usually monthly, usually drawing a few hundred or so at most. Then they have smaller events with only a fraction of that. It’s not like the territory days when places all over the country were drawing hundreds and in come cases thousands every week.

It’s not like the territory days when places all over the country were drawing hundreds and in come cases thousands every week. About 5 years ago a few local feds got into a pissing contest. One fed,SWA,ran all the little towns around Hattiesberg but not H-berg proper. For years going back to like late 90s this one bar in town would a few times a year have a wrestling show there. Powerslam did it a few times. Well EGO got booked to do the bar show and the then owner of SWA freaked out. Posting all over how he would never "run another feds town." And telling anyone that if you wanted to work for SWA,who had tv at the time, you couldn't work for EGO. Then weeks later Battlezone got added to the U can't work there list. Then barely a year later I see SWA is going to run a school not far from me in 3 months. I let the BIW promoter know this, since BIW has ran this town for over a decade. SWA promoter lied claimed he had no idea BIW ran this town. And it "Is just a benefit show for that schools band." Every SWA show was a benefit show for something. Anyways show got postponed. Moved to April 2020. Then never happened. Supposed the SWA promoter agreed to put up a few flyers at the show for the next BIW event in town. Now that owner doesn't own SWA,he co owns a new fed,and every fed in the state, but that new fed, work together. So you got a few co promoted SWA VS Battlezone big events. And had stuff like the Pro Wrestling 225 heavyweight title being defended on a BIW event. Oh the owner that made the fuss claims to be OLD SCHOOL. But made a parody Bullet Club shirt,Biscuit Club, that was a bit to close to the real thing. He got a nice letter from NJPW telling him to NOT SELL THE SHIRTS. But he is Old School and hates modern wrestling, unless he can make money off it,.

I know it' doesn't really qualify, but wasn't WWF still running shows within their Northeast territory quite often into the early 2000's? Well after national expansion. Like you still had your monthly to bi monthly MSG shows and whatnot.

of the originals Portland somehow held on till 92 I forget Portland lasted into the 90s. Memphis died in 97. But really outsiide of about 8 months there has always been some fed running Memphis and the surrounding areas since at leaast the late 60s. After the Memphis I grew up on died,it was USWA at the end, there was Music City Wrestling and Power Pro Wrestling in Memphis proper. USA Pro and Kick Ass Wrestling right outside Memphis. And now we got CWF Memphis. Memphis and their weekly TV show is still such a big deal in the deep south indies that you will find younger wrestlers that do all they can to get Dustin Starr to book them even once for the Memphis TV tapings. Guys driving 8 to 10 hours for not much pay. But it is Memphis and it is TV.
