R-Truth's main event push in 2011.

Not sure why this popped into my head, but hey, here it goes.

What were your thoughts about this? Part of me wants to read through archived threads when this was going on. Not sure where creative was going with this. Suddenly R-Truth starts acting crazy and talking about "Little Jimmy" and stuff. At first, I thought it was some metaphor for "the little man" or something. Then after he turned face again, he started acting as if "Little Jimmy" was an imaginary character.

I am getting ahead of myself. Let me back up a tad.

I remember R-Truth turning heel that year and was put into a feud with John Cena. I was a little surprised at this sudden push. Don't get me wrong, R-Truth was over back then and is fun to watch. I find his schtick entertaining. But then he turned heel and then was first acting all angry, then he started acting crazy. Then came later that year when he was paired with The Miz, which I thought was odd in hindsight.

Also, when Truth feuded with Cena, I recall he had a main event match against him at Capitol Punishment. Was that the only time he was in a WWE title match? That's one thing I wonder.

What are your thoughts about this run?

It was fun and entertaining. Him as a heel got over really fast because he was funny but menacing like when him and Morrison was fighting and he pops on the screaming saying SHAZAM!! and messing with Morrison and then looking directly at the camera saying a match will never happen between them

He's another person I would had gave that one month WWE title run to. Once Cena beat him, that main event push ended but him and Miz made for a really fun team

I f***ing loved how random and out of f***ing no where it was. The smoking. Lil Jimmy. The civil war get up. I remember even being hyped for the Capitol Punishment match! Lol

All this thread did was make me miss when the entire roster was on edge because of R-Truth and the f***ing Miz and it took the combined epic forces of John Cena and the Rock to take them down.

An unfortunate casualty of the Summer of Punk.

I mean I'm pretty certain that he wasn't going to win the title or anything, but damn it was nice to see Killings not doing his same ol' pop-locking and rapping for a moment or two. Once Awesome Truth (An exceptionally poor reimagined Two-Man Power Trip) started, my interest waned quite a bit, considering he was going to be cannon fodder for Rock (and Cena).

Never forget how Truth lost a WWE Title match, his only one, at a PPV called Capital Punishment via a kid throwing water into his face

His entrance without music was good. He was also a nice change from the usual Jericho-lite, slow talking, serious heel in a suit trope they'd been running into the ground by that point. Beyond that, it was fine, I guess.

Kind of funny that one of the reasons he turned face after this was because he failed a wellness test.

It's too bad that Del Rio got the MITB briefcase. I would love to retcon that to Truth instead and give those two WWE reigns to him.

And Mark Henry being a part of the walkout when he was being even more destructive on Smackdown.

I'm pretty sure he put Jerry Lawler, who initiated the walkout, through the announce table a week earlier.

I freaking loved him that Year and the whole Awesometruth stuff was pretty cool. He really should have had a WWE Championship win that Year but Cena/Punk obviously was the better choice.

Loved it. Some amazing promos and his matches kicked into another gear.

As it's been said in the thread, it was one of the great things that got put on the backburner due to the Summer of Punk (probably second to only Rey Mysterio's WWE Championship win/reign as that was the single highest TV rating point the entire year) and Truth with MITB when he thought there was a conspiracy would have been much, much better than whatever it was they tried to do with Del Rio.

Also hurting Truth was when Kevin Dunn came back in November from his six month sabbatical and had no idea how to present him the way Ranjin Singh did when he took over directing WWE television for the summer.

It was fun. I do sometimes wonder if he could have been world champion for a third time (yes, he's won the NWA title twice, in case people forget) if he hadn't screwed it up.

It definitely breathed new life into him and made him a much more interesting character in that he went from a one trick pony face to a dangerous and credible heel. So of course they turned him back face like five months later.
