It was a different time. You'd be shocked how okay it was to watch stuff that was so bloody and full of violence back then.
I also remember being super excited about the figures. Got most of them at K-mart at the time.

Not just the violence but that the Tommy Dreamer one seems to come with special wanking action.

Come to think of it, there were a lot of R-rated properties that had children's toys back in the day: Robocop, Aliens, Terminator, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Toxic Crusader.

Never seen this commercial. Love that it is basically a direct copy of the old WWF action figure commercials. I still have these figures hanging in my office.

It was a different time. You'd be shocked how okay it was to watch stuff that was so bloody and full of violence back then. It didn't go unremarked on or uncontested, though. I remember toy magazines commenting on controversies, and WWF toys were a big part of the PTC push against them. There was this laughably misguided organization I remember called Lion and Lamb crusading against violent toys, which seemed utterly unable to comprehend the idea that anyone over 6 got toys. They'd cite the "approved for ages 4 and up" legalese on toys as if it was the target demographic rather than safety information. I'm really curious if groups like that led to the "adult collectible" marketing you see on more toys, now. There was definitely a split that grew since the 90s where there are cheaper toys for kids and more detailed and articulated toys for adults.

As a kid I had a Huggy Bear figure, yep they made a pimp action figure and it was marketed to kids.
It was the 70s. My dad could send me into the store at the age of 10 while he pumped gas, with money to cover the gas and get him a pack of cigs. And the store would sell me the cigs.
While I never had one had a few cousins with that Alien action figure that for years was in the discount bins and now is worth way way too much.

When I was a kid I got the New Jack, Lance Storm, and Dreamer figures. I never could watch ECW because I didn't have control over the TV and my parents would only let me watch WCW due to the Attitude Era raunchiness. I only bought those because they look cool.
