I was just listening to a podcast that revisited Starrcade 1997. There’s 0 chance of it happening, but it’s a fun thought experiment to imagine WrestleMania morning arrives, Roman goes over the match with HHH and whoever, then when HHH reviews that Cody is winning clean Roman goes, “That doesn’t work for me, brutha.” What happens next? Bloodline Black & White led by Roman Reigns. vs. Bloodline Wolfpac lead by Jey Uso. I mean, Cody losing at this point would be like if the Nick Patrick three count just counted at Starrcade and they moved on to whatever was next. It's nuts. It's time. Bloodline can still have their issues but they need to start building other people using that belt. Enough is enough.

There's already been enough Reigns matches that have ended with the audience not reacting because the finish has been flat. There's no way that they want the last image to the first LA WrestleMania since 21 to be 50,000 people looking like they're fed up and Roman holding both belts again. Because I don't even think someone like Snoop Dogg singing with Cody would be able to save that.

Even if he gets one or both titles back shortly thereafter, it makes the most sense for Roman to lose here. That can send him into a craze, especially with the Bloodline crumbling around him.
Post-Mania, I think a Bloodline consisting of Roman, Solo, Jimmy feuding with Sami/KO/Jey could do big business.

Yeah, it'd be Cody losing. I said it in another thread, but you can always go back to Montreal or the UK (maybe actually in Scotland this time lmao) and give Sami or Drew their moments. You will almost certainly never again have an undefeated top babyface, still less than a year out from being the company's biggest free agent pickup in nearly a decade, fresh off a debilitating injury and a huge Royal Rumble return, with the fans 100% behind him. It would be an absurd waste of potential. It'd be like Austin losing at WM14 or Batista at WM21.

I dunno, Vince publicly coming back and then deciding to screw with what’s working “because he’s Vince McMahon dammit!” Could probably turn the tide.

Cody wins at Night 1, Roman gets his rematch and regains Night 2.

They call an audible and have Cody lose to Roman this Friday, then insert Sami on both nights for tag and world title glory.

You could eventually build it to a 4 vs. 4 War Games or Survivor Series match. Cody could join the faces and a debuting/returning/newly elevated heel could join the Bloodline.

Arguably, the issues will be rightfully spicier and more exciting jf the Bloodline leave LA without their titles. You could get a lot more character mileage with a Roman Reigns who’s coming off his dominant run crashing and burning and having to grapple with his grip on the Family loosening by the minute.

There are three potential roadblocks to the fairytale ending we're all hoping for:
1) Injury/sickness. If either Cody or Roman are unable to compete (especially Roman), whatever we got as a replacement would definitely be a damp squib in comparison.
2) Lol, Roman wins! If they decide (for whatever reason) that Roman's title reign should carry on, the audible groan from the audience would be able to power a small country.
3) A phone call from The Rock. Even at the 11th hour, if Dwayne decides he's available to put his cousin over at Wrestlemania, you'll be certain that Trips & co. would shuffle things around to make it happen.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but goddamn sometimes it feel like The Rock has a Game Genie for life. I mean has any wrestler ever had that much sway at this level? The Rock hasn’t wrestled a match over 10 seconds in nearly 10 years and with a last minute phone call he could not only win the main event at the biggest show of the year for the biggest company but also derail months (if not years) of booking. I know you said he’d put Roman over, but I’m sure WWE would love to squeeze some more appearances out of him and if he wanted to win, he’d win. Oh yeah, also the guy who would bend over backwards to make this happen (HHH) was at last rumored to hate/strongly dislike him in the past.

I'm not sure Rock is the only person this is true of though. I think they'd do the same for Austin as well. And if it was Vince and he could move I'm not 100% sure he wouldn't do that for Hogan. That would be a way to derail things though. Reigns wins by cheating and Hogan comes out to avenge Rhodes and wins the title.

I think Cody’s overall blandness will shine through eventually and derail this all on his own.

Making them uneasy tag partners who win the tag belts from the Usos just "explode" on each other could derail two of the top matches at Mania all at once. Vince loves the idea.
