Correct me if I'm wrong, but did Hall do anything on the Plane Ride From Hell besides get f***ed up and go to sleep?
This is not me condoing Hall's drug problems in any way, but... It feels like Hall being fired while Flair walked away from blatant sexual harrassment with no repercussions seems pretty messed up, no?
Then again, it's Vince "Sex Harrassment Ace" McMahon's company.

According to Justin credible, hall was in such a state of intoxication he had to be loaded out of the plane on a wheelchair. Unfortunately it happened in full view of waiting paparazzi-and Vince, who was none too thrilled that the cameras got ago see one of his stats in such a state. But Hall had already had issues with showing up in no state to perform already, thst was just the final straw.

i still think the WWF bears some responsibility for Scott Hall ending up in that state after having Austin pour beer down his throat on live tv. Everyone knew he had problems, he was on medication to help him fight his abuse problems, but they booked that sh*t anyway in an act of callous cruelty.

Yeah, and Bruce defended it on STW by saying if Hall "couldn't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen". That may not very verbatim but if my memory is correct that's actually exactly what he said.

They didn’t use non-alcoholic beer for that!? Not that it’s a lot better but at least it’s defensible. Not surprised that Bruce would say something like that though, dude is not a great person.

To the point that’s why Kevin Nash didn’t have a match at Mania X8, in case Hall f***ed up and got himself shitcanned in the middle of the program they could slide Nash into the Austin match. Also, I could be wrong, but wasn’t it more or less decided before the Plane Ride from Hell that Hall was getting fired when they got back to the US?

It's been years since I read it so could be misremembering but I'm sure Jericho said in his book that when he poured whiskey over Punk before their WM match it was really cold tea inside the bottle (so Punk wouldn't accidentally drink some) why on earth they didn't make similar precautions for Hall who's alcohol situation was far more serious is anyone's guess.

As far as why Hall was fired compared to others, it's simply because WWE wanted to make an example of someone...so he and Perfect drew the short end of the stick due to their status.

I didn’t remember that this happened, and if they didn’t use non-alcoholic beer, I’ve lost even more respect for Austin.

Nash also mentioned how Scott was told he was supposed to have a very light schedule and WWE tripled his dates (Scott had custody of his kids IIRC) so Scott was already in a bad state cause he felt he was lied to

If Vince stepped in shit, Bruce Prichard would lick the mess off his shoes if it meant he got an attaboy from VKM, so I'm not shocked he'd defend something obviously that heinous.

Yeah they had probably already intended to hand him his papers once they got back to the states, the plane ride from hell just made it a future endeavoring on a more epuccscale

On the Dark Side episode it was claimed that someone (might have been Hennig if im remembering right) spiked his drink which was what messed him up.
One of the flight attendants also claimed he said some horrific things to her when she offered him breakfast.
I think there were also reports that he was getting drunk and passing out backstage at shows too but again i might be misrembering.

There is nothing WWE could do that he wouldn’t defend. Seriously, they could perform live human sacrifice while setting kittens and puppies on fire and he'd say something about how business needed it or all the planning that went into making sure the fire marshall was good with it.

There is nothing WWE could do that he wouldn’t defend. That’s because he’s an ass kissing piece of crap. Vince McMahon does absolutely no wrong in his eyes. It’s why I stopped listening to his joke of a podcast a long time ago. Every explanation and answer he gives is a corporately sanitized one that would meet Vince’s approval

I really feel bad for Hall. Revisited his 2001 Japan work on a two disc compilation and it's maybe the absolute best in-ring work of his career. Could have been main eventing WWE in 2002 even when they had their most stacked talent roster ever.

Hall actually stuck around a bit longer after Mania than I remember, I always remembered him being fired straight afterwords.
