Most deaths I tend to find out via this Forum when I see the R.I.P thread.
But a few exceptions.
- Owen Hart: I actually wasn't watching or following Wrestling at the time. I was still in School, I woke up in the morning and was having breakfast and my Mum told me that some wrestler named Owen Hart was apparently killed in some stunt at a show. Ofcourse I did remember Owen so this did suck still.
- Eddie Guerrero: I was due to work a late night shift, briefly logged on to a Wrestling website and was greeted with the title "Eddie Guerrero passes away". This is probably still the most stunned I've been by a Wrestling death, this is a guy who I was watching regularly on WWE weekly television so It just seemed unreal.
Chris Benoit- I was at a friend's place and returned home, Me Brother was watching Raw and told me what happened.. Obviously we didn't know the full story at the time and Benoit was my favourite wrestler. First Wrestling death to actually tear me up. I still remember all the signs and tributes on here. It was only when I got home from Work the next day I found out what truly happened.. I admit at the time I just didn't want to believe it but sadly it happened.
Ultimate Warrior - Started work that Morning and logged onto R.I.P Ultimate Warrior. This was another surreal one as I'd just watched this guy go into the WWE Hall of Fame and then show up at Wrestlemania and Raw, and now he's dead. Crazy.
Like I said most deaths I tend to find out about when being on here, the likes of Randy Savage, Dusty Rhodes and Roddy Piper etc were all found out via here.

Eddie- I was browsing a random wrestling forum and saw a thread called "In Memory of Eddie Guerrero". I then went to WWE.com and saw the front page. I immediately told my brother who was in the room with me and we were both stunned.
Benoit- I didn't find out until the next morning as I live in the UK, I was going on a school trip to the Victoria and Albert museum in London and my friend told me about what happened. I couldn't believe it. My family were deeply disturbed by it as my little brother was the same age as Daniel. I threw away my figure of him that night.

Eddie & Benoit are the only ones I really remember other than Brodie Lee.
Eddie I was on TNA’s website because Christian was supposed to debut that evening on their PPV and on the website it had an article RIP Eddie Guerrero. I was shocked. I would say his death is one of the main reasons I joined this board in the first place. I was lonely and had no one to talk to about wrestling at my University.
Benoit I was at work and Radio 1 here in the U.K. announced it on their news bulletin. I couldn’t think of anything else for the last 3 hours of my shift and wanted to get home as soon as possible to find out what the heck was going on. Even Sky Sports had it on all day. I went for a driving lesson that evening and had an absolute stinker and burst into tears (probably because I was gutted my favourite wrestler died). A week later I passed my driving test. Getting that out of my system I think helped.
Brodie Lee I was on my break at work and looking through Twitter. Anna Jay had a broken heart emoji so clicked to see what that was about then saw the RIP Brodie messages. Came to this forum for the sad confirmation.

The ones I remember the most.
Brian Pillman: When Vince made that announcement at Bad Blood. It was shocked. I wasn't online all the time and all of that at the time. Owen Hart: I didn't order the PPV but I remember watching the TV and it scrolled at the bottom of the screen as breaking news. It was one of the local Fox, NBC, for CBS stations couldn't tell you which now. Eddie Guerrero: I remember just getting on the internet and it was on Yahoo's from page. I legit told my brother saying Eddie Guerrero is dead. He was like "WHAT?" in shocked from it. Chris Benoit: I remember seeing it Monday morning or my brother did first. I know nobody knew anything at the PPV that happened that Sunday, and I was in bad after that show ended. Piper: I was online while I was getting ready to go out meeting up with some friends. I saw it pop up just before I was leaving. I remember making a fb post about it. A friend of my message me saying going "Are you serious?" I was like sadly I am.
A lot of them I found out just being online these days.

I remember hearing that Owen Hart had died on the morning news report on Capital FM before school. That was pretty weird.

Brian Pillman. I was watching the Badd Blood countdown show when they abruptly cut to a somber Vince McMahon. His first words were “Ladies and gentlemen we have some tragic news to report ….” and then he announced that Pillman died. I remember the chat rooms on WWE’s AOL site buzzing with the news.
Owen Hart. I ordered Over the Edge but thanks to my lousy cable company (TCI) it didn’t come on until midway through the show. So I missed the promo that aired during the accident but did see the announcement that Owen was dead. I had school the next day so my dad taped the replay for me.
Chris Benoit. Early that morning I checked PWInsider for Vengeance news and results, and there was a small note that Benoit missed the show because of a “family emergency.” At that point I didn’t think much of it, other than “gee, hope everything’s okay.”
I went to WWE.com right before Raw started and saw the headline: BENOIT FAMILY DEAD. My dad called me during the tribute show to ask if I heard what happened, and that’s when I learned about the authorities treating it as a murder-suicide.
The Macho Man. I was slogging my way through a shitty day at work when I felt my phone vibrate. I saw a text from my mom: “Did you hear that Randy Savage died?”
Ultimate Warrior. This time it was my brother who texted me the news. It was the first thing I saw when I clicked my phone on that morning; I guess he sent it earlier and I missed it.

I recall hearing about hearing about Dino Bravo and Kerry Von Erich on the radio, but Andre is the only one I can recall exactly.
It was pretty late, and I was riding in the car on my the way back to my grandparents’ campground when I heard about it on the radio. I can recall everything about that scene exactly in my head, as it didn’t seem like someone so much larger than life should even be able to die. Andre seemed beyond human. It was like hearing the radio announcer say Santa Claus had died, it just didn’t make any sense.
I also recall exactly where I was when reading that Warrior died, as I was riding back from Wrestlemania 30 and had just seen him at Raw the night before.

Sitting on the couch in my friend's basement watching the PPV drinking vodka lemonade, eating Hawaiian Pizza and feeding his dog Nacho Cheese Doritos.
That's what I was doing when Owen died.

I remember watching Over the Edge and not really processing the severity of the fall until JR announced Owen had died. We only watched two PPVs live back then; the other was Survivor Series in Montreal.
After finding out Savage passed I broke the news to a housemate who wanted to use his death as an excuse not to go to work.

Owen Hart - at my grandparents house watching the 7 o'clock news bulletin.
Eddie Guerrero - went onto WWE.com on my work computer during my break, on my first week at the job!
Chris Benoit - this forum
Ultimate Warrior- my non-wrestling fan sister messaged on our family WhatsApp "Guys, Ultimate Warrior just died" - to which my initial reaction was "Yeah right, I just watched him on RAW last night."

Owen Hart - Friend phoned up and said "hey, did Owen Hart die at the PPV?" And I said that was unlikely as he had a title match! Then I watched the tape and had to tell them that yeah, Owen was dead. Curt Hennig - I've made no secret of my Mr Perfect fandom. A close friend (we're still mates) told me to sit down as he had bad news and then told me that Hennig had been found dead. We were at the seats outside the main school entrance at this point and I roared "Dont lie" so loud it made some poor first years jump nearby. Anyhow, he dragged me to the computer labs, I saw it on WWE.com for myself, and took the afternoon off school. I have apologised since for losing my cool! Bulldog - At home, on Rajah back when it was still semi-decent. Swore out loud, causing my sister to go "Whats up" so I told her Bulldog was dead and she just went "Aww dammnit". Eddie Guerrero - In a pub, at uni. Someone I only barely knew went: "Michael, you like wrestling, don't you. What do you think of Eddie Guerrero dying?" Me - WTF? Guy - Yeah he died, its all over the news. (double checked this with friends by text. Of course it was true. So I went to the bar to get a drink to digest this.) Barman I Knew - Hey, whats up? Me - Oh, just found out Eddie Guerrero died. Barman - WHAT THE ACTUAL f*** ? So yeah, I broke the news to that guy! Benoit - Rajah, then all the wrestling forums. And it was clear at a disturbingly early moment in the morning, Glasgow time, what had happened. Macho Man - I got a text from a member of this very forum who doesn't like getting @'d Friend - Crying. Me - Why? Friend - Macho Man's dead Me - WHAT? Are you sure its not bad info? Friend - No. He had a heart attack and crashed his car. He's very dead. My wife drew a quick memorial drawing of Savage and we hung it up on our fridge for ages.

Owen Hart - I learned of it the morning after at school when a friend of mine told me so. My friend was a known bullshitter, but then I got home and saw it on the news... That episode of Raw was one of the hardest episodes to watch. To this day, I can't watch it.
Mr Perfect - I tuned into Raw that week.
Eddie Guerrero - I was at school on a wrestling forum during a break and saw that Eddie died. I held it together and then broke down when I got home.
Chris Benoit - I tuned into Raw, and saw Vince standing in the ring of an empty arena.
Macho Man - I was on break at work and saw the news about it.
Daffney - I was on here in the AEW Dynamite thread. I don't remember who posted the news about her livestream, but I managed to catch it. I was one of many that tried to message her. The news broke on here when I was on my way to the Humane Society to have my dog cremated. So, a terrible double whammy, there.

Owens is definitely the most vivid memory. I had just gotten back into wrestling and would watch PPVs before/after school. I was literally getting ready to leave for school and shovelling burnt toast in my mouth when JR announced the accident. What a downer of a week that was.
Most other deaths I got from here. Infact I'd only first signed up here a week or two before the Benoit incident.

Twice for Chris Benoit. One when I went to WWE.com randomly at home for the initial shock of learning one of my favorite wrestlers suddenly died. One for learning one of my favorite wrestlers was an indefensible, evil piece of shit.
With Owen Hart, my dad told me when he woke me up the next morning before school. I was groggy and tired and didn't fully comprehend what he was saying at first. Then I talked to my wrestling fan friends at school who ordered the PPV and told me all about it. To say I was shocked would be an understatement.

I remember where I was for a lot of these guys but what's crazy to me now is looking at the guys who died when I was younger and how young they really were.
Owen - 34 years old Eddie - 38 years old Benoit - 40 years old
I was 11, 17, and 19 when they all died. But now, at 34, almost 35, those ages seem criminally young. And also weird because Benoit and Eddie felt like they were much older.

Owen - found out at work while skimming the news section of a satellite ag network thing we had at the office.
Eddie - on a Hurricane Katrina relief mission trip.
These are the 2 that stick out but as of late, Instagram and Reddit have been where I've found out about wrestlers who passed.

Owen, on my local news the night of the PPV. Went to bed that night super sad.
For Benoit, it was on this board, I remember the tone from thread 1 to thread 6 getting darker and darker, filled with theories. Eventually, I think the mods closed threads after a while, or did suspensions because a lot of people were pissed about grieving a murderer.
I remember seeing the Warrior thread the moment it went live and thinking it was a hoax. I read it when news was apparently scarce and no big sites had picked up the story, so there was a thread on FAN and a HHH tweet. Throughout that day, though, I was glued to my phone looking up details while at work.

Owen Hart - my mum broke the news to me the morning after as it was all over breakfast TV here in the UK, had to check with my mate who had taped the show for confirmation, we both went to school that day talking non stop about him on the bus
Eddie Guerrero - was on a day off from my first job, logged on to read the Smackdown results as they were doing a rare weekend taping for both shows due to the UK tour before Survivor Series I believe and it was all over 411Mania, came onto here (back when we were the Wrestlecrap forum) and fought back tears reading everyone’s tributes
Chris Benoit - had been in work that evening and not checked any news ahead of Raw that night, stayed up to watch the show live and first thing that came on was the memorial graphic and I was stunned, got through the first hour but was getting lumpy throat so turned it off and slept. Flicked on Sky Sports News the next day and any tears I had turned to shock and disgust at what really happened
Warrior - was on the bus (was either on a day off and heading back from town or heading back from work) and it was all over social media that he’d collapsed outside his hotel in front of his family the morning after his Raw appearance

Owen Hart: I went out with my parents that day to the mall. Up to that point, I was following PPVs and watched them when I could (I would go to my grandma's house and had a "magic box" to watch the shows off of. ). This was not going to be one of those moments. I thought maybe I could watch the encore in a couple of days or wait for the video release. I do recall watching the pre-show but I didn't get to watch the PPV. So what I did was check the results in live newsfeeds for the show on some wrestling sites. Until I reached the headline that read: OWEN HART IN AN ACCIDENT AT OTE? I was not sure what to think of that. I thought maybe he had gotten into an accident on the way to the arena or something. But then I read something about a mishap with some equipment. I wasn't sure what to think. Hours had passed. I went to bed. I changed between "The Jesse Ventura Story" on NBC and "Independence Day" on Fox, and then suddenly my mom came to my room as I lied there and told me about how Blue Blazer died. I was shocked about that. I didn't know what to think. My mom had told me that he fell from about 70 feet. The next day at school, because everyone knew I was a wrestling fan, people asked me if I had heard about what happened. Eddie Guerrero: I was 19 at the time. I was ready to go to a casino for the first time because it was 18 and over at the time. My wrestling board of choice was the "Raw is War" board on IMDB. There were threads about Eddie Guerrero's death. I thought it was a hoax until I went to wrestling sites and they confirmed it. I was so shocked about it, but I still went to casino. When I got home, I checked the boards again. There were plenty of threads about Eddie's demise. Chris Benoit: My mom and I went to my grandma's house that very day. I remember my younger cousin (who was 10 at the time) put on the DVD for Vengeance 2006. We just hung out for a bit. Then when I got home, I went on the Raw board on IMDB and there was a thread about how Chris Benoit left for a family emergency. I wasn't sure what to say about that, except that I hoped things were okay. Then came the following day and I heard that he, along with his wife and son were dead. I was shocked about it. I then told myself to watch Raw that night when there was that tribute to him. After Raw was over, I saw some threads on IMDB and on MySpace wrestling groups about what really happened. That shocked me even more. I wasn't sure what to say about it. I still remember later that same week when I went to Target and saw that a Chris Benoit action figure was still in the toy section. This boy was all "Wow, a Chris Benoit action figure!" Deep down, I wondered if he had heard about what happened, especially with it being all over the news.
I can't think of any other examples, except for Brodie Lee. I was out getting dinner with my dad. Because it was 2020, we went to go pick up the food to bring home. Then my friend texted me and asked if I had heard that he died. I was also shocked to hear about that.
