I made a bit of money a few years back betting on WWE. Iirc I used a free bet on Kane beating Orton at wm at good odds. They are capped novelty bets though so you can't bet huge sums on those markets. The bookies also got wiser and the good odds dried up. I don't get why WWE would push for it in this way though, there's no way they can fix results so far ahead and not have it bite them. Imagine wm30 if they were forced to stick with Orton Vs Batista as the main event. Maybe they want gambling advertisers to run during , or sponsor shows. Wrestling still has issues attracting big money advertisers so why not increase the pool by enabling gambling?

The first thought that comes to mind in all of this is money laundering. It probably isn't, ultimately, just my instincts.

Will definitely start betting soon, sounds like a fun way to make even the dullest main events interesting.
*loses all of the money 'cause will never bet against Liv* 👀

Gonna bet my future daughter’s college fund of Baron Corbin vs Otis next week.
Corbin’s due!

The bit that gets me is “locking in the results months ahead of time”. First thing… PFFFFFFT BAHAHAHA Second thing, what happens in an instance of major injury leading to the match not happening? Just mass refunds or mass disclaimers denying them under “card subject to change”? Bet is void if a match doesn’t happen, same way it’s void right now if you place a bet on a specific athlete to hit a home run or score a touchdown and then they’re inactive.

Betting on the results of individual matches would be dull and too open to manipulation.
The money (and fun) would be in accumulators and random stuff that is tougher to fix. Time of the first dive to the outside, the first match on the card to use a steel chair, the color of Seth Rollins' wacky clothes. That kind of thing.

One way to stop Vince taking over creative, imagine getting him to lock in results 6 months down the line

I would imagine that's easier than you think, if you have the right connections.

That's why fraudulent betting is an issue in legit sports as well. You'll never eliminate it fully in wrestling when you can't do it in competitive sports.

Man could you imagine if this existed already and someone just bet on Roman for two years? They'd live in a mansion in space lmfao The bigger the odds of Roman winning, the smaller the payout.

It's more the specifics of locking in a result so far ahead of time that's questionable. I don't quite get why they think this is the key to getting approval but doesn't seem worth the headache. What are the consequences of not complying? Seems to open up a lot of problems they don't need.

Watch scumbag WWE add a rule where if it's a DQ/No Contest the House automatically wins.
Ya'll know this isn't a f#%@ing joke.

See, I've always theorized that the stranger booking decisions had something to do with gambling.
f***, get Forbes on that shit.
