And me not yet wanting to drop money for a switch,
What games should I get? Since I can still buy 3ds games in cartridge form, I’m looking at their classic games.
Has anyone ever played Legend of Zelda: oracle of ages and Oracle of time?
I never even heard of these games before. I read it was supposed to be a 3 game series but they cancelled the third one, so that does concern me. But how often do Zelda games go wrong and I loved Link awakening for game boy, so surely one made for game boy color has got to be good right?
Also on my list
Warrior land 2 and 3 Donkey king country 2 and 3 Mega man 6, 7 Ninja garden 2 and 3 Castle vania 1 and 2
The other mega man games, I would like but probably but the mega man collection 2 whenever I get the switch (and mega man 11). Though I wonder if the game boy games would be worth it

I'd strongly recommend dropping the money on the Ace Attorney games while all of them are presently $3.

The Oracle games are very similar to Link's awakening in gameplay so you should enjoy them. Ages is more puzzle based and seasons more action, they carry over to each other via passwords.
Pushmo and Attack of the Friday monsters are the only other two eshop games I can remember enjoying (wasn't a big fan of the 3ds).

Never owned a 3DS, but did own the Oracle games. Like Bo Rida said, you kind of need to have both games, because you find passwords in one game that can be entered in the other one to unlock special items and a sort of New Game+ mode. You can still play just one or the other, you just won't get the full experience out of it.

Attack of the Friday Monsters is a great recommendation, especially since it’s super cheap right now and a genuinely fun short game.
Honestly, any of the Level 5 short games are a good bet. It was a great scheme to give some of their developers an opportunity to make the games they wanted to and they’re just nice stuff.

Buying cartridge-based games is going to become a very expensive task for some games as they enter the collectors' market, so you should absolutely consider buying them off the eShop at retail or especially for the sale price instead of paying out the ass for the cartridge.
On that note, I'd recommend Fire Emblem Awakening, Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, and Metroid: Samus Returns.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but my favorite series on the 3DS is Etrian Odyssey.
I started playing the original again recently for the nostalgia kick.
And both Oracle games are highly recommended.

RPG Maker games on there may be worth looking into if you want so RPGs. RPG maker Fes was a great little time burner. The player to play the games people made is free. Alot of shit ones but some are good including mine:D Try and look up the 13th Helloween and the vampire must die

I'd strongly recommend dropping the money on the Ace Attorney games while all of them are presently $3. Thanks so much for this, didn't have any idea there were sales all over the place. Better to get some now and stuff them on my SD card than try to find them physically on Ebay later. Would you recommend getting them all separately or the Remastered trilogy? Reading mixed things online

Reading mixed things online Well, the ones on the eShop are the remastered trilogy, along with the fourth, fifth, and sixth games. Personally I think the remaster's perfectly fine; there are some odd changes with them, like losing some cut-in sprites for some reason, but most of the worst issues with the remaster were in the initial mobile version and aren't present in the 3DS version and beyond. I'd definitely recommend just going for them if you're curious. Though the remastered trilogy's on the Switch so really the pressing ones to grab before the 3DS eShop closes are Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies, and Spirit of Justice.

i went to see if I could get anything this weekend, and it seems they made it really hard to buy anything last minute. Can't buy directly from the 3ds, I guess they don't take gift cards anymore, so I had to log on their actual website and buy some last night, and figure out how to download it to my 3ds since it didn't do it automatically during sleep mode. I wake up this morning to browse, and all the games are gone already. I thought it would close at 8/5 today. Good thing I got something yesterday. It was at like 3 am pst. They must have just shut it down an hour or two later.

A reminder to everyone that Poke Transporter needs to be downloaded via a paid Bank subscription before the shutdown, as it's considered a separate download and won't be available once Bank goes free tomorrow.
