I do not remember this. I thought he came in with that dumb suit, had a feud with Undertaker and left. I believe there was a tease hed go after Hogan?
Anyways I fell asleep with random wrestling on YouTube last night, woke up and saw Adam Bomb in the ring ( I believe it was on wrestling challenge)
Out comes this huge guy wearing a leather jacket and jeans. Good God it's Giant Gonzalez and he's mad at Adam Bomb. The crowd actually gave him a good pop. Did this go anywhere or just random one off then left?

It never led to anything as I'm pretty sure it was his last appearance. He basically turned face after the Summerslam match when he chokeslammed Wippleman although to me he looked more like the heel as Wippleman didn't do anything to cost him the match so to me it just made Gonzalez look like a big bully beating up his tiny manager even though he had nobody but himself to blame. Then he was the first eliminated in the IC title battle royal on Raw where he was still presented as a heel and then the Adam Bomb confrontation where it look like they were setting him up to be a face but then he stopped appearing. I do remember finding it funny when JR quipped "Does he think he's in a parade?" as Gonzalez was waving to the fans when he came out to confront Bomb and Harvey.

He technically had one more televised appearance, in a battle royal on Raw about a month later, but yeah, he was basically done immediately after turning face.

I mentioned the battle royal in my post. He had the Summerslam match, then the battle royal, and then the confrontation with Bomb the OP is talking and then that was it. On a somewhat related note I always found Mr. Hughes disappearance around this time to be even more weird. After Wresttlemania IX Taker wasn't even feuding with Gonzalez. Instead they transitioned to Taker against Hughes and were building up to a big match between the two all summer with Taker having reefs sent to the ring during Hughes matches. Then it's announced at Summerslam that Taker is fighting Gonzalez who had barely been on TV and Hughes disappeared a few weeks later.

I have heard he had narcolepsy, so maybe he was out for health reasons.

I have heard he had narcolepsy How was this never worked into his gimmick? They could have called him Mr. Snooze. That would have been amazing.

It's a wonder that this didn't happen, because there's no way Vince could have said no to Mr. Snooze. I can see Hughes/Snooze sitting backstage with the scowl and sunglasses. Mean Gene is trying to talk to him, but Hughes/Snooze is not responding. Gene then puts the mic in his face and we hear him snoring. Then we hear Vince from play by play: "HYAH HYAH HYAH HYAH!!!!!!!!!"

Hughes has such an odd career. Rather impressive list of trainees, though, maybe that was his calling after all.

I remember someone it might have been Jericho I'm not sure claiming that he would fall asleep in the middle of taking a backdrop. It does seem like he's been a lot more successful as a trainer then he ever was as a wrestler with the amount of guys he's trained who have made it to WWE. Apollo Crews, Heath Slater, and Dexter Lumis were all guys he trained that made it and I think there might be a few others I'm missing as well.

I do have a soft spot for Mr. Hughes, not sure why EXACTLY but I do.

If he stayed I'm wondering if they'd put a Gonzalez - Yokozuna feud together eventually.

I think Giant Gonzalez also had a match with Macho Man that he lost and beat Harvey up again afterwards

Typical scenario that always works. Undertaker vs Giant Gonzalez was also about presence and their promo where they faced each other while Mean Gene is in the middle is state of the art.
