I might be the only person who feels this way, but Drew McIntyre is the among the most meh people in wrestling right now. Like, his size is good and all, but beyond that, he's just...there. I've never seen him have a great match, or cut a great promo, or just generally be anything more than exceptionally average at anything related to pro wrestling. I'd let him go and see if he can find a personality. They did it once already, but it didn't take. He’s not giving the best stuff to work with either. Since Roman has a strangle hold of the title it’s kinda showed how average a lot of the faces are. He’s the perfect “Smackdown” champion. Like Batista, Sheamus, or Braun before him just a big beefy face that’s not really setting the world on fire, but fine to put in the secondary title picture. Not awful but not really great either.

The existence of two monied promotions, however vast the differential, is about to bear fruit in the next year or so. I dare say the women and men in both companies are going to be getting paid better than they ever have. And yet for some reason I almost see a "Hogan in 1994 WCW" moment with Drew where he comes into AEW and his first match he beats MJF for the title.

I really enjoyed Drew's chase of and victory for the WWE Championship.
The reign itself was good, but that Orton feud went about a month too long. And then since crowds have been back, they've de-prioritized him.
I don't really think the problems of his run have been his fault. *shrug*

Drew's someone very dependent on good material to be good. He always brings his all to it but he can't elevate something. If the material's good it works, if it doesn't he's just boring.

I think Drew's great, just a bit stale right now. And I watch both WWE and AEW (for how long, who knows) so it won't really matter to me where he's at in a year.

I've never seen him have a great match, or cut a great promo, or just generally be anything more than exceptionally average at anything related to pro wrestling. I'd let him go and see if he can find a personality. They did it once already, but it didn't take. Some of his 4-star matches in the last 2 years: Jan 2023, Nov 2022 & June 2022: McIntyre & Sheamus vs. Usos Clash: McIntyre vs. Reigns July 2022 SD: McIntyre vs. Sheamus Backlash: Bloodline vs. Drew and RKBro Crown Jewel 2021: Drew vs. Big E Aug 2021 Raw: Drew vs. Priest vs. Sheamus June 2021 Raw: Drew vs. Styles vs. Riddle June 2021 Raw: Drew vs. Riddle HIAC 2021: Drew vs. Lashley May 2021 Raw: Drew vs. Kofi March 2021 Raw: vs. Sheamus Fastlane 2021: vs. Sheamus Etc. then he also had a bunch of great matches during his 2020 reign. That's cool that Meltzer or whoever likes him and gave him those ratings, and I'm glad you like him. More power to you. But for me, I've seen most of those matches, and not one of them did anything for me, most especially anything involving Riddle, who is another guy that's just there as a performer for me (and personally, he seems like a shit bag). I've seen a bunch of Drew's indie stuff too and....nah, just doesn't do it for me. Actually, really looking at that match list, it is populated almost entirely by guys I couldn't give less of a shit about. I like the Usos, outside of that, all of those opponents range from "meh" to "f*** off forever." Not trying to yuck anyone's yum, but I just don't see what it seems a lot of other people do, for whatever reason.

Can’t really imagine Drew in AEW so think he will probably resign and imagine he hopes he will get his big moment in front of a crowd that he deserves. I’ve been iffy on the thought of him having a heel run since he generally sucks at it but as long as they don’t change too much I think it could work.

At 37 he's one of the youngest men who could slot into the main event only Rollins and Gunther (both 35) are younger. Cody, Reigns, Zayn, and KO are all the same age as Drew, and then everyone else with ME pedigree is in their 40s (apart from one or two I've surely missed).
Edge, Rey, and Jericho show wrestlers can go for much longer in age without match quality suffering than before but the aging men's roster is going to be a concern once they move onto the post-Reigns era. Rushing up NXT talent brings its own risks and building new stars was put on the back burner during the 3-year Reigns er... reign.
This is probably why Cody got the red carpet treatment from day one and why Sami and KO got very nice new deals and pushes when their contracts came up and there was an alternative place of employment waiting for them in Jacksonville. As a fellow 37-year-old "baby" Drew is probably right to expect similar.
Expect the WWE to swoop for all four pillars as a solution to their aging problem as soon as they are able to.

I've soured on him but it's not really his fault; they won't give him that big win in front of a crowd. I'd personally love to see a douchy heel Drew.

I remember when he came out and said Tribal Queef and I was like “Aw come on man”
Then he pushed into the Brawling Brutes act and started doing the banger after banger thing and I was like “Aw come on man.”
Then he hit a suplex on Sami Zayn once and yelled “IM FEELING UCEY RIGHT NOW!!!”
And I was like “Aw come on man”

However you feel about Drew, if you're a promoter hoping to sign him in this potential bidding war, you'll need to win over The Gameskeeper, who is something of a father figure, teacher, and spiritual guide to Drew, who grew up under his watchful eye.

Sheamus in 2012 had his title reign start off in the worst possible way when he cheap shotted Bryan at 'mania, and he never recovered from that, then there was the awful feud with Alberto Del Rio. If he had won the title off Bryan in a match that lasted at least 15 minutes at 'mania, and WWE didn't have him feud with Del Rio, the story would have been very different. This year, we've all seen just how good Sheamus is. As for Drew McIntyre, the dudes stock has dropped massively in the last year and it looks like he's taking the L in the triple threat with Sheamus and Gunther and it looks like his main event days in WWE are over. I don't see WWE breaking the bank for him when they don't see him as a main eventer.

Drew McIntyre really started to work for me when he turned face. He's so good at it and he had a great chase for the WWE Championship. Sadly, he never really got to be WWE Champion in front of live crowds because of the pandemic. And he's a lot better at the goofy stuff than given credit for.
He was also been a lot of fun outside of WWE as Drew Galloway. His TNA/Impact run was great and why he got a lot of momentum to come back to WWE in the first place. If he wants a lot of money, I don't think another Impact run is feasible unless it's just a limited run (which personally makes me sad as I'd love to see him interact with Joe Hendry again), but he could probably kill it in AEW.

I wouldn't call his TNA run great. It wasn't a bad run by any means, just meh and his Title run was pretty underwhelming and got off to probably the worst start with him cashing in his Feast or Fired contract on pre Broken Matt Hardy, which was a pretty underwhelming start. By the time he debuted in TNA, Drew had already appeared for ICW and Evolve where he really developed his character. Drew would almost certainly have still been signed by WWE if he had never wrestled in Impact, and his run there was probably the least noteworthy part of the time he spent away from WWE between 2014 and 2017.
