Here's what Wade Keller said today about the situation: "We alluded to this that there's been talk that he is unhappy with his current situation in WWE and I'm hearing it's kind of a mix of creative and money and what kind of offer he's getting for a renewal. It sounds like WWE is taking seriously the possibility that he is going to let his deal run out rather than agree to something that he believes is less than he deserves or less than he what he thinks he has coming."
Keller continued, "He was gonna be at SmackDown and now he has been pulled so I think that situation will probably, based on what I'm hearing, be decided pretty quickly one way or the other."

Surely WWE wouldn’t hand AEW a huge moment by letting Drew Galloway walk into All In in August just a month after leaving the company?
I’m not the biggest WWE fan these days but I watched a fair bit during the pandemic and Drew was amazing during that time period, and he definitely deserves more now. Feels like he’s getting that Milhouse’s Dad “I don’t remember saying good luck” meme at the moment.

If the Clash at the Castle finish happened to me I'd be like "yeah I'm out of here at the end of this contract" AND THEN YOU ADD KURT ANGLE getting a lower offer than you hoped for to the mix?

If he doesn't want to turn heel, he's exhausted a lot of what's out there for him as a face right now, especially after losing to Roman. It might be time to leave the territory for now and start somewhere else for a few years.

I'd love to see Drew pop up in AEW, think there'd be some killer matches available for him there. Plus you know he'd get a massive pop if he turned up at All In.

Clash at the Castle had to have really done a number on him I think.
It was the first time I saw someone come out with "lose face" and felt they were 100% justified. Then they kept the camera's rolling on him when he thought they had stopped filming live, and it made him look like a goof at the end.
It may sound melodramatic, but Cardiff was the "lightning in a bottle" moment for him, and they squandered it, and I think (while professional) it broke his heart a little.
He'll never have the moment back again, or one like it. When are they going to heat him back up, get him with full crowd support, AND do a PPV on his "home turf"? It was all lined up perfectly.
It happened with Sami too, but for me Drew's stung just a bit more (maybe because they go to Canada a lot more? I dunno).

It'd be insane if his contract expires and he's able to just walk in to Wembley for AEW for their biggest show to date, it lines up so insanely that it'd be baffling if WWE doesn't re-land him
But I agree on the sentiment of Clash at the Castle, like imagine telling that man to sing "Sweet Caroline" after losing in front of your people? Like imagine doing that and the end result is also you just never getting to that level again. Granted he did some good stuff with Sheamus and GUNTHER, but the ceiling was hit... and maybe Drew knows that right now in WWE he's just peaked and wants to do something else... and that very much would be something else if he's out of there by August.

It'd be a blow for WWE IMO as he's one of their best workers, having said that unless he turns heel I just don't see much for him going forward so, MAYBE, it's a good time for him to go somewhere else for a while once his contract is up?

Random thought that just came to my sleep deprived brain: Could Tony Khan buy the rights for Broken Dreams? It wasn’t done by WWE was it?

I was just thinking if he does jump ship it'd be cool if they got a different song by Shaman's Harvest for him.

Can you imagine the potential of a big money feud between Drew McIntyre and Nick Aldis?

If McIntyre is disillusioned with his current role, then it's not my place to tell him to stay if he doesn't want to. That being said, WWE themselves need as many guys like McIntyre as they can hold onto, and I'd put the likes of Rollins, Lashley, Styles, Sheamus, Rey Mysterio and maybe even Owens and Strowman into this category. There's always some permanent level of credibility that comes with being a former world champion unless they really shove you back down the card like Ziggler, Swagger, Khali and Mahal were or you lean too hard on the weasel heel thing like Miz. McIntyre's taken some tough losses, but he's not that level of busted. They need these guys to be the metaphorical bridge to Reigns, both going there and, someday, coming back from there. If those guys start going away and leaving or retiring, who does the young guy on the rise beat for credibility? Someone in that ouroboros of a midcard?
Then again, Austin Theory has pinned Lashley, Rollins, Rey, Edge AND Cena in one-on-one matches this year, and I don't think it's doing a damn thing for him.

Probably because he was made to look like absolute shit with his exploits with the MitB Briefcase, dude was pretty much defined down as a midcard act. Add to that having no character beyond "Atlanta", it's not surprising the dude looks just like a dude.

PWinsider say Drew's contract is due to run until the end of this year / early next year as it is.
So there's a bunch of time still, and I reckon they'll come to terms with a re-sign before then.
Feel free to dig this post up if Drew leaves, of course!

If they let him walk, it'd in some ways be foolish, but they also should probably be realistic with him on if they think he's got another shot on top. If he doesn't, and Drew isn't cool with lingering in the midcard, then it might be wise for both parties to part on good terms. Drew's 37, so he's not a spring chicken, but he's also not THAT old, either. AEW's the obvious possibility, though part of me could also see him stroll into NJPW. Would be kind of fun to see him kick Ospreay's ass and take United Empire from him.

Can you imagine the potential of a big money feud between Drew McIntyre and Nick Aldis? I could list one hundred dudes that would be better opponents for Drew than the British Billy Gunn.

With Sami he at least had the WM main event waiting shortly after (saying "at least" about a WM main event feels weird but still). Drew had...losing to the Bloodline 40 more times, including War Games, being the doofus in the feud with Gunther and Sheamus as the one "stealing" the match from Sheamus, that he ended up also losing.
