All this talk about top bookers like Trips preferring long heel runs has me wondering what wrestling bookers past or present sticks with dominant faces and good guy champs? I mean it was the McMahon's bread and butter... have the face be the champion and face a series of monster heels... Most feds in the NWA were face centric as well ... they kinda needed to be with people like Ric being the champion most of the time. Thats what people miss when they talk about NWA being heel centric. 99% of the promotions that made up the NWA were face centric, like the WWF. But they needed their top face at home selling tickets not traveling all over the country working for other promotions. So the champ was usually heel by default. Short face runs to boost a guys rep and drawing power then the belt goes back to a heel and the face goes home to keep his home promotion afloat.
