Over the last few years this has exploded and has become even more prominent thanks to GCW but is anyone else completely annoyed by the usage of household doors as the table crunch? I get it from a manufacturing standpoint and not using the common plastic tables at stores today but man these spots are so frustrating to watch be setup with chairs.
This comes about as there was a literal doors chant at the GCW show i was at recently and yeah lol

It makes sense as a branding/financial point for GCW. Since they’re at least the ones who popularized using doors in place of chairs if not straight-up originated it, it makes them unique. Plus, financially it makes sense because as far as I know that’s the whole reason it started. Doors are cheaper than tables.
But should all indies replace tables with doors? No.

Kayfabe wise Why would there be a door under the ring? There’s no reason for it to be there! At least the table you can kind of rationalize as it could be a backup for the announce table or something,

I like C*4 in Ottawa using doors, because they often get local artists to paint murals on the doors for the wrestlers.

I just work under the assumption the wrestlers put them there ahead of time, which is why they always know where they are.

Doors are a LOT cheaper, break easier, and I've heard they break safer than tables. As to weapons of all types being under the ring, I assume the wrestlers get stooges on the ring crew to stock them.

Doors are very much safer than tables, mostly because they don't have all the metal framing and screws underneath like your typical wooden table does.

Doors in the corner are better than tables.
Door bridges are worse than tables, the set-up is awkward.
Using the door debris as a weapon is pretty cool.

It's cause Roman Reigns is the Head of the Tables and he won't let anybody else use them!

Whatever is safer and can be used logically works for me.

Joey Janela must have smuggled Johnny Falco's old booking sheets, as NWS did those ALL the time.

Because the show is scheduled to feature hardcore matches, and the wrestlers involved have placed them there before the show, to be put to use during their match. Perhaps decades ago, before tables and other assorted weapons being stashed under the ring was a thing in pro wrestling, it would have only made sense for "necessary ring materials" to be there, but with the way everything has evolved over the years, in 2023, weapons being under the ring for weapons matches is fairly logical.
So why not just stash handcuffs, taser, baseball bat, or more lethal weapons then if it’s anything goes? It’s all so silly. lol I know that it’s pro wrestling and you’re just not supposed to think about it, but at least New Jack would bring a shopping cart full of weapons to the ring, why wouldn’t everyone just do that instead of taking time to stash stuff under the ring? 😂

What I would find funny is for someone to go under the ring and grab something a different wrestler later in the night wanted to use and have that guy be pissed when the other guy got to the back.

I heard there was/is a shortage of that type of tables. Might be true, when's the last time you saw a "wrestling" table in a store?

Wrestler finds a sword under the ring with a note on it reading "Do not touch - Drew", says "Good advice!" and then attacks his opponent with Drew's sword.

Something at GCW last night reminded me of this thread.
There was the usual doors and chairs under the ring. During the main event, Sawyer Wreck went to the back for light tubes. When she got back to the ring Masha Slamovich pulled out from under the ring a black bag or covering that had light tubes in it.
I like the psychology of one person hiding them in the back but the other knowing they would use them so she put them under the ring.
