My goodness, there was some good stuff in ring, but his commentary just makes you want to turn it all off.
Seriously, this is one of the worst decisions the company ever made. After all these years, it's still intolerable and very much suffocating. Such a shame too.

It was an awful idea to turn the lead commentator, the person whos voice is heard almost every minute of the broadcast, heel. You basically had him shit all over the entire product.

It was fun at first on NXT, but then it just snowballed more and more between overexposure on the main roster and him taking it way too far with the season 3 stuff and became unbearable then it lasted way the hell too long.

It had some amusing moments, but went too long, ended poorly, and shouldn't have been attempted in the first place if they couldn't answer the question, "To what end?" and have an actual answer. Same happened with Don West in TNA when he went heel, only that dominated things less, at least.

At the time, I thought his NXT heel commentary was hilarious (especially Season 3 with the gong), but by 2023 standards, I can't really feel good about defending it..

So many funny ass moments, and when he really laid it in thick on stuff you also didn't like, it felt like he was representing you as a viewer. It made me watch Season 3 of NXT.

For sure, though it was still irritating with West, maybe since Tenay wasn't really equipped to verbally joust with him, so it just kind of made West seem cranky with little pushback. He was kind of obnoxious when he was cheerleading everything, too, but West at least trying to hype stuff up. They stripped him of his one stand-out talent as a color guy and just made him a dollar store Ventura. |

The NXT commentary was amusing but I will never forgive that godawful "match" with him and Jerry Lawler at Wrestlemania 27. It was nearly 14 minutes long for some godforsaken reason.

He was unbearable during that run, and not in the "He's such a great Heel" way. He had that go-away heat with me. He wasn't funny, he wasn't entertaining, and he was a big reason why the mute button was invented.

Re-watching that Ladder match with ADR and Christian, his over the topness heel commentary really took the moment away from Christian and Edge.
