I would absolutely 100% respect this answer. Dusty Rhodes was pro wrestling patron saint of bad booking before Russo came along, but, outside some joke segments, Dusty never got hung-up on his failed ideas and constantly argued about his responsibility for their failure to anybody who would listen. I never heard him say "'lissen Daddy, Da Shockmasta coulda bin the bigges' thang WCW eva saw if they would have only let me run the storyline to its logical conclusion, bro." Bruce Prichard is similar. Granted, he's a bit more stubborn than Dusty was, but even he can admit "Yeah, that was a bad idea" semi often

Yeah, Dusty had no problem admitting the Shockmaster was a disaster, but freaking funny. He would laugh about how bad it all was, he didn't try to say it would have been great.

Yeah... whenever Dusty talked about booking ideas that failed he might try to explain what he was thinking but he never went off on how it was really an amazing idea that no body understood. Like how he watched the Doomsday Cage match and realized "that was not at all what I was thinking..."

To paraphrase the Dream, "If he's such a damn good booker, why he don't have a finish named after him?!.....what we talk about again?"

Post by David-Arquette was in WCW 2000 on May 9, 2023 16:20:19 GMT -5
Yep, they got me with this. I hadn't watched much of WCW around 2000, and with no internet or anything I had no idea. I bought this on a whim because Jarrett vs Page in a triple cage match seemed really cool. That and Vampiro vs Sting. So I was disappointed to see Arquette included. However, as stupid as the angle was.. great match, loved the show.

Arquette was a b grade actor best known for playing the stock idiot in slasher movies and for an annoying phone commercial campaign. If you are going to use a celebrity to get some cross media attention, at least use a celebrity people actually care about.

I’m fling to sound mean here, but there’s a reason he is remembered heavily gut his time in WCW-because there is not much ensue to remember him for. He’s not a once rising star who got derailed, he’s a never was. His career peaked right where it was always gong to. He’s done more behind the camera than in front of it because he was always lousy in front of the camera.

Hollywood did try though with him outside of Scream movies they put him in 8 legged freaks and see spot run they were both box office failures.

I mean, Arquette would be good for goofy sidekick roles, the kind of parts they used to give guys like Rob Schneider. He should not be a lead though.

Adding in that while WCW had those annoying phone commercials with Arquette, WWE had equally annoying starburst commercials with a guy who lauded a crazy convenience store clerk. I remember think in g that wound be a match up for the ages.

David Arquette was genuinely stellar in the 1998 movie 'Ravenous,' has done some great indie film work and is a respected stage actor.
Yeah he may have been in some annoying commercials and not the best judge of script in the early aughts, but to say the guy was a "never was" is inaccurate. People loved his work in 'Scream' and he's proven he has chops. He completely hangs with Russell and Costner in '3000 Miles to Graceland.' Let's not completely discount the man's entire body of work because he was in the Russo orbit for a time.
Vince Russo is a dumb out of touch racist.
Also a sexist homophobe and transphobe.
