We don’t even have Conan to get us through the strike with a legendary late night run of pure unadulterated buffoonery. Man wove gold out of literal nothing.

I hope that the strike isn't longer than the 2007-8 strike

I'm hoping production entirely grinds to a screeching halt because it's the only way anything is actually going to come of this.

I wonder if in the future, now with tech, if some studios will say "Ok, we will just have AI come up with something" I would guess that someone is testing the waters right now, because the guild has admitted that this is kind of an ace up their sleeve-I just wonder how much longer they can use it, before their bluff is called and the machines(that we created) take over The Machines are nowhere near ready to take over writing. For one thing all AI Generated art is already considered non copyrightable and I would assume the same goes for the written word as well, so basically you'd have scripts that anyone can shoot and you would have no real way to stop multiple copycats of the same production. the ai chat (which really just scans a bunch of other written things and is not even Artificial Intelligence like what most people think of when they say it and I hate that's the term everyone's settled on) - if it copies things verbatim from a writers script and the studio runs with them there is a potential that they could get sued for plagiarism. and finally... ai scripts tend to be the most generic things ever and don't really tell a full on narrative tale, it might give you a bunch of scenes but it won't give you narrative cohesion because it really can't. Maybe it can in the future (and part of the things the Union wants is to stop that line of thinking ) but it is nowhere near ready for that level. as for "pushing the woke agenda" ... no the AI would likely still push that since they would undoubtedly want the most money and the people that use words like woke unironically are in the loud minority.

I’m in SAG-AFTRA. Haven’t seen anything about a strike vote. I figure if it drags on long enough other unions will get involved to try to break the deadlock. Granted, SAG-AFTRA are probably the least likely to do so, but we shall see.

Hopefully they get what the want soon. I pick up on-set security shifts here and there.

The reality tv boom came about because both writers and actors were on strike at the same time. The studios wisened up. And there will be another reality tv boom. This time likely joined by a Japanese Anime on American Over the Air TV Boom

Have a feeling that the fall tv season won't start til after the World Series this year, Fox may ask to have almost the entire LCS they got on bog Fox. Maybe see the NBA opening week national tv games being simulcast on ABC (For ESPN) and CBS (For TNT) plus movie packages on CBS, NBC and ABC on sundays. We may see anime air in primetime in the states Demon Slayer (it'll have to be edited heavily to comply with FCC decency standards) or My Hero Academia for example

Also, a lot of these companies barely take animation seriously, you think they’ll change their mind on animation from another country all of a sudden?
