On tonight's episode of WWE's Most Wanted Treasures on A&E, it was revealed that WWE located and purchased 20 boxes worth of master tapes of the Poffo family's ICW promotion that ran from 1978 to 1984. Apparently, an oil company that had backed the promotion had been in possession of them for the last 40 years.

So does this mean WWE owns the Poffo ICW?

So does this mean WWE owns the Poffo ICW? I'm assuming that they do now. BTW, I can't wait until they upload this to the network.

Two questions: One, what drugs did you slip me before I watched this video? Two, are said drugs the reason why the microphone looks so small and his hands look so large? I mean, that's a comically tiny microphone.

So at this point, the WWE owns pretty much everything with an existing video library except:
Memphis (ownership seems quite muddled) Houston (I think Billy Corgan got this when he bought the NWA) Continental (Not sure; Ron Fuller is selling compilations) Portland (No idea, I don’t think there’s a ton out there) Detroit (again, no idea on ownership and I don’t think there’s a ton available) Southwest/San Antonio (compilations were out years ago, no idea on ownership)
Obviously, I’m going with territories. There’s a ton of indies they haven’t absorbed yet. I’m trying to think if there are any other territories with existing video libraries. Most were taped over or simply thrown out, like the Mid-Atlantic film Cornette saved from a dumpster or the stuff from the ‘50s that was allegedly dumped into the Hudson River.

Didnt WWF work with Houston in the 80s? I'd assume they own that footage (ditto the WWF/USWA crossover stuff): www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsB7cm3izkk

WWE would have Vince's promos that aired on USWA TV, but they probably wouldn't have anything the USWA itself taped because they never showed any USWA footage on WWF programs.

With Portland there is piles from whenever Buddy Rose was working there. He recorded every episode he was on. And when he passed the tapes made their way out into the traders hands. COntinental is odd,Fuller for years said that David Woods,I think that was his name, owned it all. He was the one that bought it near the end and owned a tv channel in Alabama. But yea Fuller and others are selling dvds of the footage. So no clue who owns it. Or might be the owner doesn't give a crap. Paul Bosch Houston was sold to Bruce Tharpe. So I would assume Billy owns it now. Which makes sense, the NWA sstreamming service ended when Billy took over. And that was nothing but Houston footage.

I had forgotten about the Buddy Rose stuff completely. That probably accounts for the biggest portion of Portland stuff that’s out there then.

True. Had a TX vet that should know say Boesch's family sold the footage to Tharpe. But no clue if that is true.

There's a chance they may own XWF and WXO as well as Hogan/Hennig from the XWF Taping was on the Hogan Anthology DVD and there was a clip of a Johnny Ace WXO promo during the CM Punk "tribute" to him.

Back in 2015 when a few of us met Jerry Lawler oone thing he was asking everyone was if anyone had Memphis footage.

The 1982 episode with Ric Flair's only appearance in the WMC-TV studio can only be watched today because of fans recording the show at home when it first aired. Lawler wanted to show footage of it on a USWA broadcast around 1996 and didn't have the master.

Keep hearing Memphis reused the tapes until the mid 90s.But the shorter versions of weekly Memphis appear to all be out there. The longer Memphis airings a lot of them have been found and are out in tape traders hands. Might just be cause they hear about it from the older fans lots of the local rookies are watching old Memphis on Youtube to get ideas for angles and stuff. Saw two guys who are at the most 22 talking about the time Dundee put up his wife's hair in a match. Then arguing over who's GF would risk their hair.
