it's weird how much hate some people have for people they never met, and the kind of every they spend on hating on them.
I saw clickbaity post on facebook about Chrissy Teagen thanking her nannies for helping her raise her kids. People naturally took this to mock her parenting abilities. I pointed out that it's okay to have help, and how it's kind of odd that people comparing how hard it is to raise kids would shame someone for having help, and it's probably good that she has more than one so she doesn't overwork them and people are getting paid. Some people ripped into me for being a some crazy communist liberal, and others were just like "We just hate Chrissy Teagen and she's annoying". I'm like "why you got so much hate in your for some random person?"

Not only that I bet they can’t pick a single person they do like and have them raise their kids on their own with no private schools and stuff. It’s embarrassing. First world problem shit.

When celebrities push nonsense theories that become widely accepted by certain segments of the population, and actually harm the public at large, I think it’s well-earned.

Yeah, I think cases can be made for both loving and hating certain celebrities on a personal level. Most celebrities really deserve little more than a general like or dislike of their professional output.

depends on what they've done.
usually though it's undeserved irrational hate

If they have bigoted opinions or do shitty things, it's more understandable. If it's something like "I hate them because they're good looking and famous," might want to chill out a bit.

Some celebs deserve it but there are some out there that get so scrutinized that even the most innocent thing they say is twisted to be used against them, no matter how many positive stories are told about them by fans, colleagues and friends alike.

The Anne Hathaway hate was always disturbing to me. Don't you get it? She wore a dress with pointy nipple darts and rehearsed her Oscar acceptance speech. She should be shunned from society! Yeah, I don't get it either. I mean, I understand why people who take issue with her political beliefs would hate her, but everybody else? She's just so vanilla, what on earth is there to actually get worked up about?

If you generally like a celebrity/notable person, the people who hate them are weird. If you don't like them, it's all deserved.
It's kind of impossible to break down or talk about because everyone has their own biases. It comes down to 'it's ok if we do it because we're right'.

I used to be the kind of guy that would be all about celeb hate. For me it started with music and certain overplayed artists.
Justin Bieber was actually the one that got me kinda turned the other way on it. Not because I liked his music, but at that point I had my own MP3 player, had some podcasts I listened to, had my own music I listened to, etc. It was so easy to NOT listen to his music. To this day, I don't think I've ever heard "Baby" the whole way through.
It also helped in Kansas City, there's maybe 2 pop music stations out of several. So to see people I worked with that listened to metal and hard rock or country music complain about him being all over the radio was basically outing them for listening to the pop stations they claimed they never listened to. They weren't even talking about him on 98.9 The Rock (hard rock) or Young Country Q104.3 or 101 The Fox (classic rock), soooooo.......
But it kinda dawned on me that all these celebs and artists I hated, that was all I had to do.
From there forward the only times I get annoyed at celebs is repetitive commercials or if they say/do/support something I find genuinely harmful.

Mostly, yes. I just do not want to give celebrities enough of my mental headspace or have my identity invested in them or what they do.
So, like, at most, I'm going to roll my eyes when one gets obnoxious, with maybe rare exceptions for when people just talk about certain ones so much that it feels like there's no escape from it.
Even then it's less hating them directly as it is resenting that I'm being made to pay attention to them when I don't really want to.

I feel like the vast majority of celebrities, even super huge names, I wouldn't even recognize a picture of so unless someone's a total trash bag like an Ezra Miller or something I don't really have many opinions on them.

If you're doing it as basically a part or full time job, yeah it's weird.
But I don't think there's anything that strange about, say, thinking Elon Musk or Gwyneth Paltrow are tools.

There's a difference between disliking someone and hating someone. In the majority of cases, hating someone you've never met and has no effect on your life is very, very weird. Scratch the surface of some of those hate accounts and communities and it's very disturbing.

Celebrity hate is silly and completely unjustified in my opinion. Except for that f***er Steven Tobolowsky! He knows what he did!

Tom Cruise is the poster boy for this.
In-between his religion and relationships, countered by sheer balls to risk his life and limb for his craft and our entertainment, he sits in both hate and worship categories.
