902,000 viewers. P18-49 rating: 0.33
Big ol’ jump up this week. My prediction that the first Collision would beat Dynamite just went out of the window.

Wrestling in general is pulling huge numbers this week.
Great to see.

Bron/Seth peaked at almost a million for NXT and AEW hitting an average of 900k for Dynamite and over 800k for Collision. Great week for wrestling as a whole. The .33 demo is just about where you want it too.

So apparently the segment with the Elite did bigger numbers than the segment with Punk. Which you KNOW is gonna fuel the already insane Punk Vs Elite discourse and good lord give it to me.

So Vaderpump ends and the number has a big jump huh? After all that grief some posters gave about "STOP TALKING ABOUT VADERPUMP IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING"... welp, lol.
I said it before, but AEW's best ratings are in the summer. No NBA, no major competition screwing with their airtimes... and it helps the product's heating up imo and has a lot of fun stuff going on.
I hope they keep this up and get a lot of buzz off of Forbidden Door as well. This is definitely a promising number.

Watch all the Punk fanboys on twitter claim this rating is purely down to him being on the show

Damn, look at that huge decline after the Cole/MJF segment ended, its more than clear viewers hate technical wrestling, show couldve gotten a much bigger rating.

Unusual for the opening not to be the highest-ranked segment.
Obviously, we need more Jeff Jarrett in concession stand brawls and Cole & MJF telling Schiavone to shut up.

This show was up 2.73% from last year, the second Dynamite in a row to buck the year's trend of declining year-on-year viewership (which is down 7.15% on average). The third quarter of the year tends to be much stronger for AEW than the second in terms of viewership, if the numbers follow the pattern of the last 2 years they'll hit a peak in late August/early September and then decline in quarter four.

Good to see the jump along with another week of year-to-year growth.
Looks like Showbuzz hasn't updated its ratings yet for Wednesday, so I'm curious to see where this ranks overall. I'm guessing #1 or #2 behind the College World Series.

I thought the Cassidy & Shibata vs. Garcia & Sabre match was fine but it's not hard for me to see why it wouldn't have held the attention of 'the casual viewer'. Not only was it the third tag-based match of the night, it also went the longest and had the least amount of star power in it.

The fact that Jarrett vs. Briscoe was the highest viewed segment of the night both perplexes me and makes me smile. I guess "casual" fans love them some schtick.

In reality a lot of things can factor into drops and that includes what else might be happening on TV or coming on around that time. Maybe in some cases people thought Cassidy and Shibata would also win easily, and they ended up not. In a positive, the year over year rise is fantastic and it looks like MJF/Cole is a hot angle people are interested in, that could bode well for them. Jeff Jarrett and Mark Briscoe though, who would have thought they'd be able to get this feud so over, but they really are doing a fantastic job. When your show has hot angles on the upper and lower ends of the card? You're in a good position.

The storyline's been good, Jarrett's been incredible in this run and exceeded all expectations and Mark is someone everyone wants to root for Jarrett and Lethal's stable has caught on and become pretty endearing goofball heels and Mark has played this so well that Papa Briscoe and Aubrey Edwards are getting monster pops. I said when this started this felt like a storyline Mark wanted to do with people he cared about, and everyone has put their entire all into it... and it's lovely to see that pay off

Isn't it more likely that this week's improvement over last week had to do with the basic reporting that CM Punk was going to be on the show than it is that Vanderpump ended it's season last week? The first quarter was up week over week and the second, third and fourth quarters (shouldn't be affected by Vanderpump) were way up over last week. Wouldn't that lend credibility to the idea that AEW started the night with a better lead-in, opened the show with something people wanted to see and kept them around for a while versus the show was up because a show with seemingly little crossover wasn't on during the second half of Dynamite?

Maybe in some cases people thought Cassidy and Shibata would also win easily, and they ended up not. What else might be happening and coming on elsewhere, etc. also ultimately boil down to 'people would rather watch something else than what is being shown on Dynamite'. I'm not dissing the guys involved in the match, more speculating that maybe the prospect of a third tag match on one card, featuring less star power than the two that had already been shown, wasn't interesting to some viewers. I liked the match so it doesn't really matter much to me whether people tuned in or out. Would the concession stand brawl or a MJF/Cole calibre match have lost the same amount of viewers? I have no idea.

Jarrett and Lethal being on a card causes me to nope the hell out of it but they do seem to generally draw viewers.

The viewership and rating are identical to two weeks ago when they were head to head with the Vanderpump reunion finale and the NBA Finals.
