Do you think heel host segments in the vein of Brother Love, Body Shop, Flower Shop and so on is workable in the modern era? I know we have had a few in recentt years with the Miz, Jericho and so on but I more had in mind shows hosted by not active wrestlers? Just a segment hosted by an asshole that can draw heat from the crowd onto a wrestler just by supporting him.

I want all talk show segments to go away forever... except the Grayson Waller Effect.

I hate when it's an active wrestler doing it, because it feels so low rent and cheap now - throw three seats and a plant in the ring most of the time - and it's never clear why the wrestlers are so excited to "host" a "talk show" that almost always leads to them being humiliated or beaten up every time. It's almost always a sign that they don't have anything to do for that person.
If they'd go back to having funny little sets/themes and restrict it to retiring, retired, or semi-active people only, I'd probably enjoy it more as a vehicle to get active talent over and push storylines. Looking at the list of current personnel, Abyss/Chris Park would probably be amazing at it given his Joseph Park run.

The only recent-ish segment I can recall that didn’t have any kind of active wrestler as a host was Abraham Washington doing his late night style show

Not only do I wish they would do away with wrestlers having talk shows, I wish they would do away with in-ring promos. I hate the whole idea of wrestlers coming down to the ring just to talk. That does not happen in any sport! Any in-ring promo should be presented more like any other combat sport, the reporter comes in AFTER A MATCH and asks the wrestler questions.
As for talk shows, I'm ok with them but it should be not be currently competing wrestlers hosting. It should be retired wrestlers, or a specific personality for the talk show. The sets should not be in the ring if possible. Probably best if they are taped in TV studios...Actually "The Bump" is a nearly perfect example in that regard.

I don’t know if he complained exactly, but Jericho noted how the Highlight Reel started with a set dressing in the ring and wound up just two stools plunked down.

Surely there are dozens of things that happen in wrestling that don't happen in any 'real' sport? Also live segments in the ring are way better for the crowd than watching them on the big screen.

I have basically always felt these segments sucked and were goofy. I know almost all of them have at least one iconic segment but that still leaves you with many other weeks where absolutely nothing except setting up a main event tag match happens

Well it's his fault for breaking the obscenely expensive Jeritron 5000.

As long as it's Bruce Prichard, I could get behind bringing Brother Love back.....
