A place where Court Bauer holds indie wrestlers ransom via poorly balanced contracts? Some apparently don't even get paid if you believe some reports, the exposure and being on the show is the pay

Court Bauer's eternal holding pattern until he finds an actual TV company willing to pay to broadcast his show.

Pay wasn't the best but we got told hotel and food was covered. This was pre-pandemic IIRC.

Yeah, ROH definitely doesn't belong in the conversation. (It is, from my understanding, technically another company, but realistically, obviously, it's a developmental sister company to AEW in practice.)
ROH definitely occupies a higher place of prominence than NWA or MLW currently do, by any realistic metric.
It's a shame that MLW is in a state of flux. Not that I have any love for Court, especially, but it benefits everyone if there are more places with their shit together than not.

It’s now yet another place to see “The Indy God” Matt Cardona through the MLW Open Draft!

Have they seriously announced that Don King has joined the company?

Have they seriously announced that Don King has joined the company? It appears that way. King’s share of Mike Tyson royalties must have finally dried up.

Yeah, putting aside any business sketchiness by Court or anyone else, it’s kind of remarkable how much the pandemic hurt a good chunk of the alternative scene.
Pre pandemic it seemed like there was an endless array of options all mostly going in the right direction. Yes, ROH was struggling at the time post-Elite departure, but they were starting to take interesting risks and embracing some non-traditional booking ideas to shake things up; Impact was solidifying under D’Amore into what it is now, which is pretty whole heartedly “sports entertainment” style wrestling but with some indie sensibilities; MLW was bringing in some exciting new names and getting them exposure while also putting on really solid, incredibly varied big cards; and the NWA was totally embracing their 80s throwback style to great effect and in a way that really made it stand out in the modern landscape. All of this was going on just as AEW was taking off and NJPW was still hot.
Nobody came out of the pandemic unscathed, but it’s fascinating to see where everyone’s gone since: ROH is now owned by Khan and reestablishing itself (strong PPV numbers so far, too), Impact has kept things pretty consistent, AEW is obviously where it is now, NJPW hit a snag given how much talent they couldn’t access plus the “silent crowd era” but has things back in order…but man, MLW and NWA just haven’t gotten things back online the way they were before 2020.
Makes sense on some level, they’re the smallest of all those companies so they don’t have the same resources, but it’s the weird loss of identity that really strikes me more than anything, feels like they should’ve been able to retain that even if they had to lose some talent or pause creative plans for awhile. Yet here we are now with Tyrus holding the NWA belt and MLW being here today, gone tomorrow with their schedule.

Bumping this to ask if anyone knows if Fusion TV is done now? It looks like going forward they are running 2-3 shows a month. The 2 this month were both solid

Bumping this to ask if anyone knows if Fusion TV is done now? It looks like going forward they are running 2-3 shows a month. The 2 this month were both solid I don't know, but I've always been confused by their business model. Usually, a wrestling promotion produces a television show because it has some sort of deal in place to broadcast the show. MLW does it backwards. They produce a TV show, without having a TV deal, to just put that show on YouTube, or lately, FITE. Just weird. Maybe they finally realized the "TV show" part isn't needed.
They have had a TV deal for years now. BeIN Sports has aired Fusion since it started. Sure it is a channel few get. But they have a tv deal. It is like how ECW was back in the day. On obscure sports channels.

Apparently, it’s now the World Titan Federation’s development territory, or at least that’s what Saint Laurent wants.

Apparently, it’s now the World Titan Federation’s development territory, or at least that’s what Saint Laurent wants. I was starting to watch the show this weekend and it opened with St. Laurent and Alex Kane, two characters I just can't stand. As I said in the other MLW thread, it seems Court is really obsessed with the whole "someone trying to take over the company" trope. And so often, characters appear and vanish. Killer Kross was hyped, but by the time they're aired his debut, I think he was back to WWE. Same when they made Taya their first women's champion, I think two weeks later she signed with AEW.

I don't know, I gave it another go recently and couldn't get past Matt Striker's commentary to find out. It was nearly heel Cole level bad.

A much lesser version of Impact, featuring an even more transient roster and some pretty baffling booking decisions. Still stands, with the addition of making obvious heels into terrible babyfaces and heavily featuring a known associate of a known pedophile who is an awful character even without that fact.
