I find it weird we're talking about a "lack of viewership" when AEW was number one on the night overall
Like I get it, year over year is down, but like welcome to the landscape of cable, that's a constant battle a lot of things are fighting week to week. I think Warner and Khan will both take that number and the fact it won number one.
Also we don't need to compare the Cable to Broadcast numbers either, it's why I also didn't like the Smackdown comparison a few weeks back, RAW's a better number to compare to because they're defying the odds with a hot product and beating year to year cable losses, Smackdown being on FOX makes its ratings metrics a bit different to me.
Overall, AEW put on a consistent shot that drew fans as the show went on, that's what you take. Hopefully it continues on and with angles catching more peoples eyes it can keep getting higher.

Saw someone post this elsewhere so haven’t fact checked myself, but apparently only 3 times this year the demo has shown growth from Q1 compared to Q8 and all 3 times were Omega singles matches. Every time people compare Omega in the main event as losing ratings and ignore that they do better than any other match in that time slot. Same thing with the BO7 vs Death Triangle Yeah, the Vikingo and Moxley matches both did really well, IIRC. Kenny seems to be pretty decent at getting ratings when he wrestles solo but his trios and multi-man matches can be hit and miss.

Overall, the show lost almost 12 percent of its viewers from open to close, so I'm not sure what you're referring to by drawing fans as the show went on. Also, I don't think (I know I didn't mean it this way) the lack of viewership discussion was meant in a literal lack of viewers, but in the sense of lower viewership than many would have anticipated. If I'm correct, you said you anticipated AEW's numbers would significantly increase over the summer months because of the lack of NBA, NHL and Vanderpump for people to watch.

And the bizarre semantics of how "the ratings" are calculated. I guarantee some talking head bloviating on FOX News tripled Dynamite's net viewership, but finished like "#16 on the night." It’s not that bizarre. The important demo is 18-49 because that’s the demo that advertisers care most about and base their ad rates on. Reason being that the age group is more influenced to change their spending habits than those 50+. Sure, but to the point of the poster you quoted - there is obviously a tipping point. 50k people aged 18-49 are not spending more money on something than a millon people aged 50+. Who knows where that tipping point is in terms of overall value to networks and advertisers, but it certainly isn't 'demo is the be all and end all, everything else is worthless' which is how it's often framed when it comes to wrestling. But then (and I say this as someone who contributes to ratings thread) this is all just people talking about things when they have absolutely no clue how they work in practice.
